- Minimum of two - three (2-3) years of proven experience in a relevant field within the NGO sector in Bangladesh. Experience in child protection and gender-based violence (GBV) programming, preferably in school feeding and working with Rohingya communities is highly desirable. Proficiency in understanding and speaking Chittagonian and/or Rohingya languages will be considered an asset.
SKILLS:
- Strong understanding of child protection principles, PSEA, gender equality frameworks, and complaint response mechanisms.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for engaging diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with cultural and social context of Rohingya refugee camps
- Ability to work effectively in a team and under challenging conditions.
- Fluency in English and Bangla; knowledge of Rohingya/Chittagonian dialect is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, email, and internet browsing.

JOB SUMMARY: The Assistant Child Protection and Gender Officer supports the integration of child protection and gender considerations into the School Feeding Programme. The role focuses on promoting safe, inclusive learning environments, safeguarding children, and addressing the unique needs of students and vulnerable groups.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Objective 1: Child Protection & Safeguarding
- Assist in implementing child protection policies and protocols for the school feeding programme.
- Conduct regular monitoring to ensure compliance with child safeguarding standards in schools, central kitchens, and feeding sites.
- Identify and report child protection risks and cases, ensuring timely referrals to appropriate services.
- Ensure complaint response mechanisms are functional and accessible to beneficiaries.
- Ensure integration of PSEA (Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse), child protection, and gender considerations in all programme activities.
- Participate in coordination meetings with partners and stakeholders to address child protection and gender-related challenges.
- Maintain accurate documentation and support reporting requirements.
Objective 2: Gender Equality & Inclusion
- Promote gender-sensitive approaches in school feeding activities and ensure equal access for girls and boys.
- Facilitate training sessions for teachers and staff on gender equality and inclusion in education.
- Collaborate with local authorities and partners to raise awareness on the importance of education for both genders.
Objective 3: Community Engagement & Capacity Building
- Organize awareness sessions on child safety and protection for students, teachers, and parents.
- Work closely with parents, community leaders, and stakeholders to promote child protection and gender equality.
- Assist in collecting data related to child protection and gender for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
Objective 4: Safeguarding & Compliance
- Adherence to Child Safeguarding, PSEA, Anti Fraud/Anti Corruption, and Code of Conduct.
- Respect community dynamics in Cox’s Bazar, including Rohingya and host communities.
- Mandatory completion of safeguarding and security trainings and periodic refreshers.
