Experience:

  • Minimum 2–4 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting.

  • Experience in NGO/INGO sector preferred.

  • Good knowledge of accounting software and MS Excel.

  • Sound knowledge of VAT & Tax regulations in Bangladesh. 

Skills and other competencies:

  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of accounting principles.

  • Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Google Sheets, MS Excel and other standard software).

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Knowledge of donor compliance and reporting standards.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

JAAGO provides free, high-quality education to children through conventional and digital schooling programs, serving 4500 students currently. Our Youth Development Program empowers 50,000 young citizens with skills and resources for national development. JAAGO addresses challenges faced by women and girls, offering alternative learning opportunities in underrepresented communities. JAAGO actively collaborates with local communities, women, youth, and marginalized groups to develop climate resilience and sustainable livelihood options. Position Summary:

The Officer, Finance is responsible for supporting day-to-day financial activities of JAAGO Foundation Trust, ensuring accurate accounting, proper documentation, compliant payment processing, and adherence to statutory and organizational policies. The role ensures smooth financial transactions and maintains strong internal control systems. Also, this role involves handling financial tracking, reporting, procurement, and logistics support. This position will work with a diverse team to maintain accurate records and assist in organizing project activities, ensuring the smooth operational flow of the assigned projects.



Job Responsibilities:

Accounting & Software Entry:

  • Enter financial transactions into accounting software accurately and timely.

  • Ensure correct account coding and project budget allocation.

  • Maintain updated books of accounts.

  • Assist in monthly closing and reconciliation processes.

 

Voucher Preparation & Payment Processing:

  • Prepare payment, journal, and adjustment vouchers with proper supporting documents.

  • Verify bills, invoices, approvals, and budget availability before processing.

  • Process payments (bank/cash/online) as per organizational policy.

  • Maintain payment registers and tracking sheets.

  • Ensure timely settlement of advances and proper adjustments.

 

Documentation, Filing & Archiving:

  • Maintain proper filing of vouchers, contracts, invoices, and financial documents.

  • Ensure systematic archiving (both physical and digital).

  • Maintain document confidentiality and secure record management.

  • Prepare financial documents for internal and external audits.

 

Banking Activities:

  • Prepare cheques and online transfer documents.

  • Coordinate with banks for deposits, fund transfers, and account-related issues.

  • Collect bank statements and assist in preparing Bank Reconciliation Reports (BRR).

  • Monitor bank balances and report discrepancies.

 

VAT & Tax Compliance:

  • Deduct VAT & Tax at source as per Bangladesh government rules.

  • Prepare VAT & Tax challans and ensure timely deposit to the government treasury.

  • Maintain VAT & Tax registers and related documentation.

  • Support preparation of statutory compliance reports.

 

Compliance & Internal Control:

  • Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures.

  • Support procurement compliance from a financial perspective.

  • Assist during internal and external audits.

  • Identify and report discrepancies or irregularities to the supervisor.

Procurement & Logistics:

  • Oversee procurement activities, ensuring all purchases and services are aligned with project objectives and donor policies.

  • Coordinate procurement processes, including sourcing vendors, obtaining quotes, and securing the best value for money.

  • Manage logistics for project-related events, including organizing venues, travel arrangements, and resources for training sessions, workshops, and community outreach activities.

     

    Compliance & Audit:

  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations, financial reporting requirements, and audit processes.

  • Work with internal and external auditors to ensure project financials are audit-ready and meet donor guidelines.

  • Implement corrective actions as needed based on audit feedback to maintain financial transparency.

Reporting Support:

  • Assist in preparation of monthly financial reports.

  • Provide financial data to project teams when required.

  • Support budget monitoring activities.

 

Safeguarding:

  • Uphold and promote the organization’s safeguarding policies to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of all children, young people, and vulnerable adults engaged in our activities.

  • Immediately report any concerns, suspicions, or incidents of safeguarding breaches in line with the organization’s reporting procedures.

  • Maintain professional boundaries and conduct that fosters a safe and respectful environment for all beneficiaries, colleagues, and stakeholders.
