The Project Officer, Sports for Protection will implement sports-based community protection, social cohesion, and inclusion activities in Rohingya refugee camps. The role acts as a bridge between community members, sports clubs, volunteers, and programme stakeholders, using sports as a tool to promote protection, peaceful coexistence, and community well-being.
Identify, prepare, and maintain sports fields in consultation with community members, camp authorities, and relevant stakeholders, ensuring safe and inclusive access for all groups
Develop and implement community-led schedules and operational plans for sports fields and clubs, promoting inclusive participation of youth, women, and vulnerable groups
Organise, facilitate, and supervise sports events, tournaments, inter-camp competitions, and Sports-for-Protection initiatives, integrating safeguarding messages as appropriate
Recruit, train, and mentor volunteers and sports club members, providing guidance on sports skills, teamwork, rules, inclusion, and codes of conduct
Ensure adherence to safeguarding, PSEA, and child protection policies, maintaining the safety, dignity, and well-being of participants, volunteers, and team members
Mobilise community engagement for care, maintenance, and responsible use of sports facilities, and support formation and management of sports clubs
Maintain coordination and communication with community leaders, youth groups, sports clubs, UNHCR, CiC offices, and partner organisations to ensure smooth implementation of activities
Monitor, record, and report on sports club formation, participation, trainings, events, and outcomes, including data collection and documentation of good practices
Support logistical and administrative aspects of sports activities, including procurement, storage, distribution of sports materials, attendance, ID cards, and activity documentation
Represent the programme in relevant meetings at block and camp levels, sharing updates, challenges, and recommendations for programme improvement
Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so
