Professional Experience

• 8 years of relevant professional experience in community engagement, participatory governance or natural resource management.

• Demonstrated experience in partner coordination and multi-stakeholder processes, including cooperation with government institutions, particularly BFD, local communities and other relevant stakeholders.

Other knowledge, additional competences

• Good knowledge of biodiversity, forest conservation and community-based natural resource management in Bangladesh

• Good understanding of participatory approaches with familiarity with gender-responsive and conflict-sensitive approaches, FPIC.

• Strong facilitation, coordination, reporting and documentation skills

• Ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player

• Excellent writing and editing skills; good interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written

• Fluent in English and Bangla (oral and written)

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, hands-on experience with digital data systems, and familiarity with various communication tools and modern IT systems

• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities in a dynamic work environment.

• Ability to work effectively in an intercultural environment.

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise with worldwide operations. GIZ supports the German Government in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. GIZ has been working as a development partner of Bangladesh since 1972 under bilateral agreement. Currently, we are working in the areas of renewable energy, adaptation to climate change, private sector development and technical education, biodiversity, as well as good governance and displacement.

GIZ in Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for the position of “Advisor- Forest Governance & Stakeholder Engagement” under ‘Gajari’ project.

• Contract Duration: 06 months (with possibility of extension)

A. Responsibilities

The position holder is responsible for:

• Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior.

• Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups.

• Advise supervisor on all tasks when implementing GIZ rules and regulations.

• Advise supervisor in the field of project planning, steering and monitoring.

• Independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager.

• Make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit.

• Assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solutions.

B. The position holder is responsible for the following tasks

Tasks

• Act as liaison & maintain regular communication and coordination with Bangladesh Forest Department (BFD) and other project partners.

• Lead the preparation, coordination and follow-up of the Implementation Agreement and related partner arrangements.

• Planning and design capacity development measures for institutional and community partners.

• Design & implement multi-stakeholder platforms, consultations and coordination mechanisms.

• Establish participatory, conflict-sensitive and gender-responsive planning processes and decision-making for Sal forest conservation.

• Ensure meaningful participation of local and Indigenous communities, particularly women, including Safe Spaces and FPIC (Free, Prior, and Informed Consent) processes where relevant.

• Conduct capacity development needs and organize training, workshops, coaching and peer-learning measures for partners.

• Execute coordination between BFD, local authorities, civil society and relevant sector institutions.
