- Previous voluntary experience in community mobilization, humanitarian response, relief distribution or NGO activities is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of the local community and project area.
- Ability to communicate effectively with different groups of people.
- Basic skills in reading, writing and maintaining simple records.
- Ability to work in difficult field conditions and during emergency situations.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including during distribution activities.
Responsibilities & Context: Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) <www.ypsa.org> is an organization for sustainable development, working in the greater Chattogram division including Hill Tracts (CHT) since 1985 (International Youth Year). YPSA is going to implement the project " Bangladesh Monsoon Floods & Landslides Emergency Response”. Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is funding the project till 31 December 2026.
Duration: 3 Months (October to December 2026)
Job Location: Cox’s Bazar with frequent field visits to Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Chakaria and Pekua
Job Purpose
Community Volunteers will support the project team in community-level beneficiary identification, information dissemination, household verification, distribution preparation, beneficiary communication and post-distribution follow-up.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Field Supervisor in identifying potentially affected and vulnerable households.
- Assist with household-level data collection and beneficiary verification.
- Support the preparation and updating of beneficiary lists.
- Provide clear information to community members regarding project objectives, eligibility criteria, distribution dates and locations.
- Support communication with women, older persons, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable community members.
- Assist in organizing beneficiaries at distribution sites.
- Support orderly and safe distribution of relief items.
- Help ensure that vulnerable beneficiaries receive appropriate assistance and support.
- Collect and communicate beneficiary feedback, complaints and concerns to the Field Supervisor.
- Support post-distribution monitoring and household follow-up activities.
- Assist in maintaining attendance sheets, beneficiary signatures/thumbprints and other field documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of beneficiary information.
- Report any irregularities, duplication, exclusion or other concerns to the Field Supervisor.
- Support emergency response activities as required.
- Follow YPSA’s Code of Conduct, safeguarding, PSEA and other organizational policies.
- Perform any other community-level duties assigned by the Field Supervisor or Project Officer.
