Educational Qualifications:

Master's in English/ Social Science/ Education.

Years of Experience:

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in education programs, teacher training, and English language training.

Gender: Female & Male. Female candidates will be given preference.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

• Prior experience in delivering teacher training and professional development programs is essential.

• Experience of teaching/ teachers training under the English

Medium Curriculum will be given preference.

• Must be able to train teachers to take learners from CEFR A1 to B2 level.

• Digital literacy is a must as education is provided through tabs; digital literacy certification will be given preference.

• Must visit schools and maintain day-to-day communication with the respective supervisor.

• Strong understanding of curriculum, assessment practices, lesson planning, and educational pedagogy.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment.

• Candidates with IELTS will be given preference.

• Understanding of the Rohingya / Chittagonian dialect is also preferred.

• Demonstrative ability to work with diverse and marginalized

communities.

Responsibilities & Context:

Community Development Centre (CODEC) invites applications for the position ‘‘Technical Officer-Akelius Language Programme” for implementing ‘‘Education and Protection for Refugee Children (EPRC)‘‘ Project funded by UNHCR located at Ukhiya/Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar

Position Title:   Technical Officer-Akelius Language Program

Reportable to:    Project Coordinator (PC)

Location  :   Refugee Camp in Ukhiya and Teknaf. 

Technical Officer will be mainly responsible for the technical support, guidance, and supervision in the school at the camp level. As part of the implementation, s/he is responsible for supervising day-to-day teaching-learning activities in his/her assigned school and critically observing schools’ quality education services and providing necessary technical support and guidance to the respective teacher and Head Teacher. S/he will be working with the guidance of the Project Coordinator.

Job Responsibilities and tasks: 

A. Technical Support and Coordination:

  • Support teachers at classroom through supervision and classroom observation.

  • Responsible for properly implementing the Primary, Secondary and ECE components within the project area by providing technical support, guidance and mentoring.

  • Provide input in developing operational guidelines for Primary, Secondary, ECE activities.·  

  • Assist in validating the information through monitoring the Primary, Secondary, ECE activities and implementing the M&E system for measuring impact through various approaches.

  • Track and follow-up issues related to teacher development.

  • In close collaboration with PC, TO-EDUCATION will play a lead role in developing the Detailed Implementation Plan for the project activities for his/her camp.

  • Regular on-site monitoring of the assigned schools and support implementation of jointly developed plans as per need of the project.·       

  • Support teachers in implementing learning and reflection discussions to improve the teaching-learning activities in the classroom.

  • Organize formative and summative assessments for the learners as per the plan. 

  • Identify gaps in teaching-learning methodology and support Head Teachers and Teachers to overcome those gaps in the classroom.

  • Ensure proper use of materials through on-the-spot monitoring and support Teachers/Caregivers to do the same.· 

  • Regularly organize project meetings and gatherings like SMC meetings, Monthly Review and planning meetings with the Head Teacher and other staff, Novice’s reception, Day observation, etc.·   

  • Acquire special attention to the issues of Refugee children.

  • Directly supervise selected Head Teachers, assist in everyday planning and implementation, and guide them to assist the assistant teacher.· 

  • Assess children’s learning and regular follow-ups, and track the progress of attaining competencies.

  • Lead the lesson plan development process along with class observations and conduct.

  • Lead the monthly assessment question development along with the teachers.·  

  • Support in conducting capacity assessment and in preparing capacity inventory of the relevant staff (teachers) for the Secondary, Primary, ECE components.

  • Develop monthly training and refresher plan considering the needs of the teachers. 

  • Prepare the annual Training plan for the EPRC project under the guidance of the Project Coordinator and UNHCR. 

B. Program Management, Representation, Communication & Reporting:       

  • Support in teacher/volunteer recruitment at the camp level with necessary preparation.·       

  • Manage active support in field assessment and monitoring visits from donors and other officials.·       

  • Maintain implementation and reporting standards and oversee the work at different levels.·       

  • Ensuring that program activities are implemented according to established program principles with adequate community participation.·   

  • Ensure the implementation of the CODEC feedback mechanism so beneficiaries can be able to give their feedback.·  

  • Collect, record, and update case studies (at least 2 in a year)· 

  • Play the role as “communication hub” in sharing camp-level information to respective stakeholders.

  • In that case, the Data Protection Policy should be maintained strictly.

  • Maintain liaison with camp-level GoB/NGO officials, local elite and other key formal and informal leaders in the area.· 

  • Attend all camp-related coordination meetings and share meeting results/findings to the management.·    

  • Assist project management in budget tracking in the camp level.·   

  • Submit all camp-level requisitions to the project office and ensure it is well received.·  

  • Physically verify office and school inventory as required. 

  • Willing to work in any natural disaster or emergency anywhere in Bangladesh.

  • Any other tasks related to the program assigned by the Supervisor.
