Matter Solutions is an SEO Agency in Australia. We’re looking for a skilled Web Developer with WordPress skills to join our growing team.

Candidates - Required Skills

• WordPress Security - Know something about the vulnerabilities and (1) how to harden WordPress and (2) how to follow procedures to keep websites up to date and secure.

• WordPress Fixing - Debug and investigate to find where things went wrong and fix them the WordPress Way. This could be in PHP, jQuery, React, JavaScript or even HTML/CSS.

• Do you know how to solve problems and focus on the result? Experience in a high performance team who deliver results is highly valued.

Candidates - Desired Skills

• WordPress - Build Websites. Build websites from an existing structure, and be skilled enough to improve our structure. If you have either of the following skills they are highly valued, please tell us and give details.

• WordPress - Custom Plugin Development. Many web developers are familiar with WordPress, but can you create and customize plugins? This is the standard we’d prefer, and expect you to reach soon after joining the team.

• Can you Build WordPress websites from scratch? That’s a plus if you know how to do this.

• Laravel - Have you built and maintained a Web App? We manage and automate our WordPress security work with a Laravel Web App, yes really!

• Why Laravel? With support from the lead developer, we want you to debug and solve problems (in PHP). For example this could adding rules and functionality to improve the automation of the WordPress Security batch processing and monitoring.

• Any experience with RESTful APIs? That’s how we get Laravel and WordPress websites talking.

The Role

You will report to the Development Team Lead who is also based in Bangladesh. You will also be expected to work with Australian based staff.

You may be expected to use AI assisted programming technologies (claude, chatGPT) and your own hand-coding to generate reliable and robust solutions in the following technologies.

• WordPress Security: Regularly update a portfolio of WordPress websites using our tools, and give product feedback to improve the tools (Kaizen).

• WordPress Plugin Development: We often build plugins some of which have RESTful API endpoints.

  • You should know how to build a plugin.

  • Building RESTful API endpoints is a highly desirable skill, but not a requirement as we can train you on how to build then (our way).

• Website builds: You will be given a queue of website builds to work through where other tasks are not pressing. We use repeatable patterns and structures and code re-use, so...

  • (1) follow procedures to build reliable and secure websites and

  • (2) skilled enough to spot opportunities to improve our structured approach and systems.

  • This applies to WordPress and Laravel Website Systems.

• Laravel - You will be asked to write and implement unit tests and trained to support existing clients and their web application systems.

• Being able to write blog posts about the work you’re doing, learning and delivering for clients is highly valued. We’re a marketing company, we like to tell people what we’re doing!
