Additional Job Requirements:
Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, database architecture, data modeling, data warehousing, and cloud database platforms.
Advanced proficiency in SQL, query optimization, performance tuning, database design, and enterprise-scale database management.
Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB, Redis, or similar database technologies.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder collaboration skills with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement and adoption of modern database technologies.
Experience Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Database Specialist/ Database Administrator in the software, ICT, or fintech industry etc.

Job Purpose: The role will be responsible for managing database specialist for designing and managing scalable, high-performance database systems across applications. Also involves architecture decisions, optimizing queries, and ensuring data integrity, security, and availability. Work closely with engineering teams to support data-driven solutions and system integrations and performance tuning.

Key Responsibilities:
Design and implementation of robust, scalable, and high-performance database architectures aligned with business and application requirements.
Define and enforce database design standards, naming conventions, normalization rules, and data modeling best practices across the team.
Evaluate and recommend appropriate database technologies (relational, NoSQL, cloud-native) based on project needs and organizational strategy.
Design of data warehouses, data marts, and reporting databases in collaboration with data engineering and analytics teams.
Oversee day-to-day database operations including installation, configuration, patching, and version upgrades across all environments (development, staging, production).
Capacity planning efforts by monitoring database growth, resource utilization, and performance trends to forecast infrastructure needs.
Define and enforce database access control policies, user role management, and privilege governance across all database systems.
Design and own the database backup strategy including full, incremental, and differential backup schedules across all environments.
Regular backup validation and disaster recovery drills to verify data integrity and recoverability within defined RTO and RPO objectives
Safeguarding Responsibilities:
Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
