We are a fast-growing health technology company building a real-time IoT monitoring platform for senior care. Our sensors run 24/7 in homes and care facilities across the US, UK, Canada, and Australia, streaming vital signs and event data to the cloud. When an elderly person falls, an alert must reach the monitoring center within seconds. Zero missed events is our standard.

We are scaling rapidly from hundreds to several thousand devices this year. We need a strong senior technical voice to guide our small in-house engineering team and ensure high-quality, scalable delivery.

What You Will Do:

• Review every Pull Request before merge (you are the merge gatekeeper)

• Lead a 15-minute daily standup with the engineering team

• Review project timelines, challenge unrealistic estimates, break down large tasks, and track progress proactively

• Define and enforce engineering standards (ticket structure, Definition of Done, branching strategy, code quality)

• Assess current architecture and provide a detailed report on scalability risks at 10x load

• Advise on event pipeline design, database scaling (MongoDB), message queues, durability, and failover strategies

• Join occasional technical calls with enterprise customers on scalability, uptime, and integrations

What We Expect:

• 10+ years of hands-on experience building backend systems in production

• Strong experience in IoT or real-time telemetry systems (device fleets, continuous data streams, connection management at scale) — this is mandatory

• Deep expertise in Node.js, MongoDB at scale, message queues, REST & webhook integrations

• Proven experience taking a system from hundreds to thousands of concurrent devices

• Healthcare or safety-critical system experience is a big plus

• Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical founders and push back with solid reasoning

• Reliable, professional, and responsive (24-hour turnaround on PR reviews)
