Responsibilities & Context:

BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners globally with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise their potential.

This position will be responsible for field base monitoring, daily reporting, documentation preparation and preservation, taking GPS and necessary data, giving support on hygiene activity and any other task assigned by supervisor.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide necessary support and guidance to volunteers to ensure the effective implementation of regular WASH activities in the assigned area.

  • Monitor and supervise the construction, rehabilitation, operation, and maintenance of WASH facilities and infrastructure.

  • Conduct regular community hygiene awareness sessions and household visits to promote safe hygiene practices, including handwashing with soap, safe water handling, sanitation facility uses, and waste management, to reduce public health risks and prevent disease outbreaks.

  • Prepare, distribute, and follow up on daily work plans with volunteers, laborers, and community groups to ensure timely completion of activities.

  • Work closely with volunteers and community members to identify suitable locations for WASH facilities, collect GPS coordinates, and maintain all required site-related information.

  • Assist in conducting functionality assessments, inspections, and quality assurance of WASH facilities.

  • Maintain and update all relevant project documents, including distribution records, master rolls, beneficiary lists, and construction records.

  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports on construction, repair, maintenance, and community engagement activities.

  • Collect, verify, and manage field data using KOBO and other digital data collection platforms.

  • Support the implementation of Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) surveys, needs assessments, baseline surveys, post-distribution monitoring, and other project-related surveys.

  • Facilitate community engagement activities, awareness sessions, hygiene promotion campaigns, and meetings with community groups, user groups, and relevant stakeholders.

  • Assist in organizing and conducting training sessions for volunteers, user groups, community groups, and WASH facility management committees.

  • Supervise volunteers and support their capacity development through regular coaching, mentoring, and performance monitoring.

  • Track, verify, and report on the utilization, movement, and stock status of project materials and equipment.

  • Support the management and documentation of Community Feedback and Response Mechanism (CFRM) activities, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution of community concerns.

  • Ensure proper documentation, filing, and archiving of all project records, reports, photographs, GPS data, and supporting evidence.

  • Coordinate with project staff, community leaders, CiC representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.

  • Report any technical, operational, or safeguarding concerns to the Senior Technical Officer (STO) or Technical Officer (TO) in a timely manner.

  • Assist the Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer in planning, monitoring, reporting, and implementing project activities.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and project guidelines.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of team members, volunteers, beneficiaries, and community members from any form of harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, exploitation, or discrimination.

  • Practice, promote, and uphold safeguarding principles and policies in all aspects of work.

  • Actively contribute to creating and maintaining a safe and respectful working environment.

  • Follow safeguarding reporting procedures and promptly report any safeguarding concerns or incidents while encouraging others to do the same.

    Safeguarding:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
