Education:
    • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Fisheries
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Fisheries or Fisheries and Marine Science from any reputed university.

  • Higher academic qualifications in Fisheries or Aquaculture will be considered an added advantage.

Additional Requirements:
  • Age At most 40 years
  • Minimum 06 years of professional experience in fisheries, aquaculture, livelihood, food security, or rural development projects.

  • Candidates having practical experience in implementing PKSF-supported fisheries projects will be given preference.

  • Experience in coordinating with the Department of Fisheries (DoF), government agencies, development partners, and private sector stakeholders will be considered an advantage.

  • Sound knowledge of aquaculture, fisheries extension, fish health management, and sustainable fisheries development.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and report writing skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet-based reporting systems.

  • Ability to work independently and travel extensively to project locations.

  • Strong interpersonal, coordination, and problem-solving skills.



Responsibilities & Context:

National Development Programme (NDP) is a national level, non-government, non-profit development organization established in 1992, dedicated to improving livelihoods, promoting human rights, gender equality, sustainable development, and inclusive growth throughout Bangladesh. NDP implements wide-ranging programs in Education, Health, Agriculture, Housing, and Credit Support Programme in collaboration with partners including Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) and various national & international development stakeholders.

Job Summary: National Development Programme (NDP) is seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Fisheries Officer under the Special Programme Development (Fisheries). The Fisheries Officer will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting fisheries development activities under the Special Programme Development (Fisheries). The incumbent will provide technical support on sustainable aquaculture, supervise field staff, conduct training and extension services, coordinate with relevant stakeholders, and ensure quality implementation of project activities in compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and project guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and implement monthly, quarterly, and annual work plans.

  • Monitor, supervise, and evaluate fisheries project activities at the field level.

  • Supervise and provide technical guidance to project staff.

  • Identify training needs, prepare training schedules, and facilitate capacity-building programs for staff and beneficiaries.

  • Provide technical support on sustainable aquaculture, pond preparation, fish seed stocking, feed management, water quality management, fish disease prevention and treatment, and harvesting techniques.

  • Supervise project-supported demonstrations, fish culture technologies, and extension activities.

  • Promote climate-smart and environmentally sustainable fisheries practices.

  • Facilitate technology transfer and organize field demonstrations, exposure visits, and field days to disseminate successful aquaculture practices.

  • Maintain effective coordination and communication with government agencies, donor organizations, private sector actors, and other stakeholders.

  • Prepare periodic technical and progress reports and maintain project documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, safeguarding standards, and project guidelines.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the higher authority.
