Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation, and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance, and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ Practice, promote, and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
∎ Develop a work plan in consultation with IDP/WASH staff for identifying, designing, and installing WASH technologies in communities, schools, and healthcare facilities in the CHT intervention areas.
∎ Determine context-specific appropriate technologies and installation sites for communities/ schools/ healthcare facilities by considering the geo-hydrological situation and climatic conditions, the disaster of the intervention areas, gender and inclusion, and organize proper consultation with the user’s group.
∎ Prepare detailed designs, drawings, and BoQ with specified technologies for communities, schools, and healthcare facilities by considering geo-hydrological conditions and other important factors, including BRAC's WASH guidelines, National WASH Strategy/Policy, and Bangladesh Building Code.
∎ Assist field offices' procurement team in procuring quality materials/services by maintaining legal procedures and inspecting the quality of materials/services deliveries.
∎ Monitor and supervise the construction works to ensure work quality by communicating with masons/workers and vendors according to field findings, and providing recommendations for modifications.
∎ Conduct field visits regularly to follow up and monitor the functioning of WASH facilities by discussing the findings with the user group at sites as well as document for sharing.
∎ Ensure water quality tests are conducted on newly installed water supply technologies before community use by collecting and testing water samples properly and sending them for laboratory testing.
∎ Prepare technical guidelines, training modules, and schedules to organize and conduct training for proper installation and construction of WASH facilities, following SDG criteria for safely managed CHT and ensuring sustainable O&M for caretakers, WASH committees, and other groups.
∎ Collect technical information on WASH technologies to prepare periodic reports (monthly, quarterly, annual, etc.), share information with the concerned stakeholders, and keep the project document and any other related documents record.
∎ Communicate and coordinate with different stakeholders at the district/upazila level for collecting updated WASH information and sharing the information on BRAC WASH interventions of CHT such as DPHE, LGED, LGIs (Union Parishad, Pourashava), CHT Regional Councils, WASH Entrepreneurs, Sinker group/Mason, Suppliers, WASH Committees, Indigenous Forums of community, etc.

∎ JOB PURPOSE: This person will be responsible for selecting appropriate WASH technological options for communities, schools, and healthcare facilities while considering the geo-hydrological situation in the intervention areas of Chattogram Hill Tract (CHT). You will also be preparing designs, drawings, and Bills of Quantity (BoQ) for WASH facilities, ensuring the quality of the installation of WASH facilities, organizing and developing the capacity of field staff and stakeholders, and following up/monitoring the proper operations and maintenance (O&M) of the facilities.
