Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Management, Entrepreneurship Development, Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Agricultural Economics, Marketing, or any relevant discipline.



Responsibilities & Context:

The Upazila Enterprise Development Officer will be responsible for supporting potential and existing entrepreneurs at upazila level through business idea development, enterprise planning, market linkage, mentoring, follow-up, and documentation. The role requires strong understanding of entrepreneurship, local market systems, business development, community engagement, and field-level coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Development and Business Support

• Identify potential entrepreneurs, small business owners, trained youth, women entrepreneurs, and community members with enterprise development potential.

• Support participants in developing feasible business ideas based on local market demand, skills, resources, and income opportunities.

• Guide entrepreneurs in preparing business plans, start-up plans, sales strategies, costing, pricing, profit calculation, and basic financial projections.

• Provide regular mentoring and follow-up support to help entrepreneurs start, manage, and grow their businesses.

• Promote ethical, inclusive, and climate-conscious entrepreneurship practices among participants.

Business Mentoring and Capacity Building

• Conduct individual and group mentoring sessions for entrepreneurs on business management, customer handling, marketing, record keeping, savings, investment planning, and risk management.

• Support EDT Trainers in identifying participants who require additional business coaching or enterprise follow-up.

• Assist participants in improving business confidence, communication, negotiation, leadership, and decision-making skills.

• Guide entrepreneurs on business registration, trade license, supplier selection, product or service improvement, and market expansion where applicable.

• Encourage entrepreneurs to maintain proper business records, including sales, purchases, expenses, inventory, savings, and profit-loss calculations.

Market Linkage and Private Sector Engagement

• Identify local market opportunities, buyers, suppliers, wholesalers, service providers, financial institutions, business associations, chambers, and private sector actors.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local business networks to support enterprise growth and market linkage.

• Facilitate linkage between entrepreneurs and relevant markets, suppliers, customers, financial institutions, government services, and private sector partners.

• Support entrepreneurs in accessing business support services, training opportunities, finance, technology, and market information.

• Conduct regular market visits to understand business trends, demand, pricing, competition, and growth opportunities.

Financial Linkage and Business Growth Support

• Support entrepreneurs in understanding savings, investment, responsible borrowing, cash flow management, and financial planning.

• Coordinate with microfinance institutions, banks, government services, private sector partners, and relevant organizations for financial linkage opportunities.

• Assist entrepreneurs in preparing basic documents required for financial access, business support, or enterprise development services.

• Track enterprise income progress, investment status, business growth, challenges, and support needs.

• Identify successful entrepreneurs and support documentation of enterprise growth stories.

Participant Selection and Enterprise Tracking

• Support the selection and verification of participants for entrepreneurship development activities according to project guidelines.

• Assess participants business potential, readiness, resource availability, market opportunities, and support needs.

• Maintain an updated database of entrepreneurs, business ideas, enterprise status, financial linkage, market linkage, and business growth outcomes.

• Track start-up progress, business continuation, income changes, investment, sales, and enterprise sustainability.

• Ensure special attention to women, youth, marginalized groups, and disadvantaged participants in enterprise development support.

Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of entrepreneur profiles, business plans, mentoring sessions, market linkage activities, financial linkage, follow-up visits, photographs, and enterprise evidence.

• Prepare monthly reports on enterprise development activities, entrepreneur progress, market linkage, challenges, outcomes, and recommendations.

• Collect and document success stories, case studies, field observations, business growth examples, and lessons learned.

• Ensure timely submission of accurate enterprise development data to the supervisor and project management.

• Maintain confidentiality and accuracy while handling participant and business information.

Coordination and Stakeholder Communication

• Coordinate with Upazila Manager, Cluster Coordinator, EDT Trainer, SEB Trainer, Community Mobilizer, Job Placement Officer, and other project staff for smooth implementation of entrepreneurship development activities.

• Maintain communication with local government offices, youth groups, business associations, financial institutions, private sector actors, entrepreneurs, and community stakeholders.

• Support the organization of entrepreneurship fairs, market linkage events, business networking sessions, product showcases, mentoring sessions, and stakeholder meetings.

• Represent The Earth Society professionally in field-level meetings, enterprise visits, community events, and stakeholder consultations.
