Disaster Risk Management Programme (DRMP) with an aim to strengthen community resilience through disaster risk reduction and preparedness along with emergency response and recovery actions. DRMP works to strengthen resilience across the most vulnerable communities and provides holistic humanitarian support to the people affected by disasters and crises in Bangladesh.

About the Project: Support for the Flash Flood-Affected People in Chattogram Division, under Disaster Risk Management Programme (DRMP).

Project Duration: Six (6) months

Job Location: Any Upazila within the Chattogram Division

Job Purpose: The Upazila Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation, coordination, and monitoring of project activities at the upazila level within the approved timeframe and quality standards. The position holder will provide technical support to field-level interventions, monitor progress, identify implementation challenges, and facilitate timely actions to achieve the expected project outputs and outcomes. The role will require frequent field visits to intervention areas, including districts, upazilas, unions, and villages, to ensure effective coordination, community engagement, and quality project delivery.

Job Description:

  • Monitor, track, and document project progress, achievements, challenges, and ensure timely and quality implementation of project activities through regular field visits.

  • Conduct frequent field visits and provide technical support and guidance to ensure effective delivery of project interventions as per the approved plan.

  • Organize work plans, monitor progress against targets, and prepare regular reports on project interventions, achievements, and challenges.

  • Ensure meaningful community engagement and promote participatory, gender-sensitive, and inclusive approaches in project implementation.

  • Coordinate with government authorities, local elected bodies, NGOs, humanitarian actors, and other relevant agencies for effective project implementation.

  • Support the design and implementation of recovery interventions addressing food security, livelihood, and WASH needs of flood-affected communities.

  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and project experiences, and facilitate knowledge sharing within BRAC and with relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with BRAC values, safeguarding principles, gender justice, equity, diversity, child safety, and staff wellbeing standards

SAFEGUARDING RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme's goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
