Experience:
•Master degree in Agriculture/Economics/social Science with 3 years of experience in community-based project implementation, preferably in women’s empowerment or social development projects.
•At least 4 years’ experience including 3 years’ experience on implementation of humanitarian response and recovery project in the thematic areas of DRR along with the gender transformation activity. Given priority to work at host community of Ukhiya and Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
•Proven experience in working with women, marginalized groups or in gender focused projects
•Strong facilitation, communication and networking skills.
•Proficiency in MS Office and basic project documentation.
•Willingness to travel frequently within the project area.
•Commitment to gender equality and social inclusion principles.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
•Willing to drive Motorcycle and should have valid driving license.
Job Context:
ESDO is implementing Nari Shakti, Samaz Shakti (NSSS) Project with the assistance of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation. The objective of the project is to establish a gender-transformative enabling environment that empowers women and marginalized groups to foster safer, inclusive, and resilient communities in the vulnerable contexts of Cox’s Bazar. The project focuses on protecting women and girls aged 10–35 in both host and refugee communities by enhancing resilience, reducing disaster vulnerabilities and creating alternative livelihood opportunities. This project has been implementing in 5 unions of Ukhyia and Teknaf upazila. S/he responsible to ensure that project activities are delivered efficiently, on time, and within budget, while maintaining high quality and impact. S/he is responsible for network/linkage/collaboration with union/upazila level network and likeminded organization, coordination & liaison with Upazila level GoB Administration and service providers.
Job Responsibilities:
Leading implementation of DRR and Climate change component
•Directly lead the DRR and climate Change component- support to develop community based DRR plans, closely work with local disaster management committee and other relevant stakeholders. Ensure that the interventions are gender responsive.
•Lead for capacity building project staff and local stakeholders on disaster preparedness, climate-smart technologies and risk reduction tools.
•Provide technical guidance on integrating DRR and climate resilience into project interventions that align with national policies and international frameworks (e.g., Sendai Framework)
•Organize awareness and capacity-building sessions on disaster preparedness, climate resilience and risk mitigation.
•Promote integration of gender responsive DRR strategies into livelihoods and enterprise development.
•Develop/Contextualize and contribute for different training materials, hand out, modules, guideline etc. according to requirement.
•Work close collaboration with GJSI focal to integrate Gender and social inclusion aspect in the DRR intervention and document for the relevant usage
•Lead the development and maintenance of community-based or school-based early warning systems.
•Document best practices, lessons learned and case studies to promote evidence-based advocacy.
•Prepare report related DRR and Climate change component.
•Organize awareness and capacity-building sessions on disaster preparedness, climate resilience and risk mitigation.
•Promote integration of DRR strategies into livelihoods and enterprise development.
•Ensure necessary capacity development support to SDMC, Student Council, SMC on disaster management
•Identify and mapping of existing service providers to work on DRR and emergency response, and conduction of CRA and planning exercises
•Ensure technical and capacity development support to Field Supervisors and LSPs on CALL, DRR, climate resilience etc.
•Lead CfW activities in the ground
•Create scope to link between economic development and DRR along with social protection
Monitoring, Documentation and Reporting:
•Maintain accurate records of activities, progress and participants.
•Collect and report success stories, lessons learned and best practices.
•Support project evaluations, assessments and audits as required.
•Ensure timely submission of different reports and updates to the Project Field Coordinator
Others:
•Support to Field Supervisor (FS) to identify and select Safe Space, Change Champion, Women Leaders
Any other project/organizational-related task assigns by the Supervisor
Skills:
This position combines DRR, economic activities/livelihoods and humanitarian response operation. Humanitarian response operation, skills on linking and representing in different coordination platforms, Excellent team building, capture learning and report writing, skills on conflict resolution and negotiation and visibility.
Authority:
Report to the Project Coordinator of ESDO NSSS Project and indirectly supervise to Field Supervisor.
Working condition:
This is a Upazila based position and should frequently spend time for extensive field visit purpose.
