Responsibilities & Context:

BRAC is an international development organisation founded in Bangladesh in 1972 that partners globally with over 100 million people living with inequality and poverty to create opportunities to realise their potential.

The Assistant Technical Specialist supports the implementation and coordination of Child Protection activities under the HCMP. The role provides technical guidance to Child Protection staff, contributes to programme planning and guideline development, strengthens staff capacity, participates in sector coordination, and liaises with government and non-government stakeholders to ensure the quality of Child Protection prevention, response, and risk mitigation interventions.

  • Support and contribute to the implementation of child protection intervention including psychosocial support, case management, CBCPC, community engagement activities and coordination.

  • Provide supportive supervision, guidance and technical input to the senior project officer (centre coordination, PSS and adolescent),and the caseworkers to effectively perform the duties and achieve the objective of child protection programme which contribute ensuring a quality programme.

  • Provide support in designing, development and implementation of innovative, effective, context appropriate child protection programming.

  • Represent and lead in the sector coordination, case management technical working group meetings and contribute developing child protection related tools and approaches.

  • Support development and scale up of efforts to achieve gender responsive adolescent friendly gender service provision at facility level as well as community-level. Ensure quality of care for Adolescent services through ongoing monitoring and evaluation.

  • Identify the capacity building need and develop capacity building plan for the child protection staff including case management staff and support in capacity building initiative.

  • Maintain CPIMS+ for reporting and trend analysis and design, develop or recommend steps to address or mitigate child protection concerns.

  • Review and support developing BIA and BID reports and participate in BID panel meetings.

  • Coordinate with child protection agencies offering child protection services to children including adolescent to advocate in mitigating child protection risk.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to project team to ensure that best practices for child protection services and service integration are well documented, evaluated and poised for scale up.

Safeguarding

  • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme`s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action. 

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
