Education:
  • Master's degree in relevant field (Education); Qualified e.g. B.Ed. M.Ed. or IER background candidate will get the preference.

  • Experience in curriculum development, teachers training or education assessments.·

  • Experience in the Rohingya response and with the Myanmar Curriculum is highly desirable.

  • Sensitivity to cultural and diversity issues.

  • At least 5 years’ work experience in relevant role.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of gender dynamics and gender-responsive education strategies.      

  • Maintain open and professional relations with all the project team members, promoting a strong & respectful team spirit, ensuring effective communication, and opportunities for debriefing.      

  • Consistently and dedicatedly monitor/assess the safety and security of the team, promptly reporting concerns or incidents to Mukti Cox’s Bazar management and liaising with other external parties as required to maintain/enhance the security environment.      

  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor are to ensure quality implementation and contribution to Mukti Cox’s Bazar.     

  • Strong facilitation skills, proven experience in conducting trainings/capacity building on education related issues in English and Bengali.      

  • Demonstrated experience working in the FDMN response, humanitarian programs, and collaboration with other humanitarian actors.      

  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and persuasively, including the ability to advocate for and simplify complex education concepts.     

  • Excellent English and Bangla oral and written communication skills. Can effectively translate to and from English to Bangla to Chittagong/Rohingya language.      

  • An effective, strategic, and innovative influence with high initiative to facilitate change in integrating gender and protection minimum standard.      

  • High level of adaptability, ability to work in multi-cultural teams.      

  • Collaborative and team player; works well with others.

  • Available for regular travel to field sites.      

  • Commitment to and understanding of Mukti Cox’s Bazar core values and principles.

Responsibilities & Context:

Job Context / Purpose

The Teaching & Learning Officer ensures that education programs in Rohingya refugee camps deliver quality, inclusive, and learner-centered teaching. In humanitarian settings, where children face displacement, trauma, and limited resources, the role focuses on strengthening teaching practices, curriculum delivery, and learning outcomes. The officer supports teachers and facilitators to adapt methods that are responsive to the needs of Rohingya children, including those with disabilities and other vulnerabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development:

  • Develop and adapt age-appropriate and culturally sensitive curriculum materials for Rohingya children in line with recognized early childhood development (ECD), primary & secondary education standards.

  • Ensure that the curriculum addresses the unique needs of the displaced population.

Teacher Training and Capacity Building:

  • Design and implement teacher training programs, providing support for education settings.

  • Build the capacity of teachers and facilitators in effective pedagogical techniques, classroom management and psychosocial support.

  • Develop and implement systems for monitoring and assessing learners learning outcomes.

  • Design and conduct standardized assessments to measure academic progress and identify areas for improvement.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team to assess the impact and effectiveness of teaching and learning strategies.

  • Use data to inform decision-making and make adjustments to improve program outcomes.

Child Protection and Well-being:

  • Integrate child protection principles and psychosocial support into teaching and learning activities.

  • Be vigilant for signs of distress or protection concerns among learners and take appropriate actions.

    Policy Compliance & Safeguarding:

  • Ensure Practice of child safeguarding policy, PSEA policy, Gender policy, Code of Conduct among team members.

  • Advocate for the integration & upholding Core humanitarian Standard (CHS) among team & stakeholders.

  • Raise awareness among team & stakeholders about the importance of policy compliance of organization, government & donor and safeguarding in the context of the Rohingya response.

  • Safeguarding and PSEA: To meet the program`s objectives for safeguarding and PSEA implementation, make sure team members are protected from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment, and exploitation. serve as a major resource for help, direction, and knowledge on safeguarding & Child protection for developing a safe workplace. To ensure that safeguarding standards are used in every course of action, team members should practice, advocate, and embrace safeguarding policy concerns.
