Educational Requirements:
∎ A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science (4-year degree) from any reputed university of Bangladesh.
∎ and
∎ Prior experience in network and system design, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance would be an added advantage.
∎ and
∎ A female graduate (Maximum Age 30 years on last date of submission of Application) having Bangladeshi nationality.
Job Context:
∎ BdREN is the sole National Research & Education Network (NREN) of Bangladesh, connecting institutes for science, research and higher education. Through TEIN we are connected to other NRENs in Asia and the rest of the world, collectively referred to as the Global Research & Education Network (GREN). A project name Building eLearning Infrastructure in South Asian Countries (BeLISAC) under TEIN has been awarded under Asi@Connect project, a project financed by all.
∎ The BeLISAC project will support for recruiting 6 female engineers, one each for all participating NRENs (BdREN, CamREN, DrukREN, LEARN, LERNET, and NREN). As such BdREN intends to go ahead with the recruitment of one female engineer (Bangladeshi Nationality) under the project. The present funding is for one year and it might happen that BdREN will continue funding the recruited engineer at the end of the project on separate funding or on its own funding subject to the satisfactory performance of the incumbent.
∎ The recruitment will be done on a contract basis initially for 1 (One) year and extension of the contract/permanency will be decided by BdREN at the expiry of the project.
∎ N.B.: Minimum commitment of 1 (One) year of service under the Project is required.
Additional Requirements:
∎ ABILITY to occasionally visit remote BdREN member institutions located around the country
∎ Ability to work after normal working hours when required and in case of critical issues
∎ Concern on failures of the network and its services on a 24/7 basis
∎ Proactively handling customer requests while supporting them amicably
∎ Dealing with other local/international network operators in troubleshooting and in new deployments
∎ Eagerness to learn new skills
∎ Team player
∎ Willingness to teach/share knowledge and experience
∎ Willingness for participating in local and overseas training/workshops
∎ Willingness to organize training/workshops, conferences, and technical events
∎ Willingness to stay for a long time with the organization
∎ EXPECTED SKILLS:
∎ Configure Network Devices [Routers and Switches].
∎ Linux and BSD platforms for network services such as Web, Mail, DNS, LDAP, Radius, Proxy, SASL, Virus and Spam filters
∎ Open standards and open-source software/tools
∎ Network/systems security
∎ VoIP systems and IP multicast
∎ Development and implementation of new networks and their services
∎ Monitoring and troubleshooting Networks/Systems
∎ Scripting (PHP, Perl, Python, etc.)
Salary:
∎ Per month Gross Salary in BDT equivalent to Euro 500.00 (Five Hundred) only.
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ Mentoring: During the tenure of her stay under the project she will be mentored by an expert from NORDUnet, the Regional Research and Education Network (RREN) of Nordic countries.
∎ Training:
∎ Local: Local Training will be available mostly conducted by BdREN engineers.
∎ Foreign: One foreign visit will be there during her tenure of incumbency. The visit has been planned to Reykjavík, Iceland. The full cost [Travel and Stay] will be borne by NORDUnet under this project.
