Job Context:
∎ IRC Bangladesh seeks an experienced, dynamic individual for the role of Sr. advocacy and communication officer’s responsible for managing the communication needs for country program in Bangladesh.in Cox’s Bazar. This will be through working closely with program and MEAL team to gathering facts on the ground, success stories, and photographs, and assisting with the production of press releases, supporting media coverage and liaising with partners to identify beneficiary impact stories. The Sr. Advocacy and Communication officer will also gather and channel information about the IRCs response activities at the field-level in the form of SITREPs, factsheets, infographics case studies and other regular reports for dissemination to staff, partners and donors.

∎ Contract Length: Till 31 August 2023 (with possibility of extension)
∎ Line Manager: Head of Advocacy and Communication

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Information sharing and global communications (40%)
∎ Provide frequent updates on latest programme information and context through distribution of factsheets and information to Global Crisis & Response Communications Team.
∎ Proactively develop story ideas for pitching to the IRC’s digital platforms and international media.
∎ Deliver trainings on informed consent protocols, IRC global branding, and story spotting to programmes teams.
∎ Work closely with the program and MEAL teams to collect, capture, and document data and information on IRC programmes and the needs of Rohingya refugees and host communities in the form of case studies and other content. Collate this information in the form of reporters, newsletters and products to be shared with internal and external audiences, including donors and the media.
∎ Work with programmes teams to produce regular situation reports and daily updates during emergencies.
∎ Support the development of IRC Bangladesh’s communications strategy in line with programme goals and organizational priorities.
∎ Content creation and development (30%)
∎ Collect case studies, photos and video content from IRC Bangladesh programmes for use across the IRC’s internal and external channels, including donor engagement, social media and the website.
∎ Ensure all materials are on brand and in line with IRC global communications guidelines and donor visibility requirements
∎ Support the development of content collection visits from global communications colleagues.
∎ Proactively develop innovative communication ideas which can contribute to achieve the project’s goal and highlight project impact
∎ Support to produce advocacy and communication statement/brief/messages/letters.
∎ Media relations (15%)
∎ Develop and maintain a network of local & national media contacts from a range of outlets and regularly pitch stories, data and programme insights.
∎ Proactively stay up to date with the news cycle in Bangladesh, maintaining awareness of breaking stories and commentary relating to issues relating to the IRC’s programmes.
∎ Support media visits from local and international media, staff media interviews and provide ad hoc support as required.
∎ Relationship building (15 %)
∎ Represent IRC Bangladesh to a range of internal teams, including programmes teams, advocacy teams and global communications teams.,
∎ Represent IRC as a leading agency in Bangladesh in sector relevant national networks and forums by participating in events and building strong working relationships with peer colleagues and organizations.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 18 to 60 years
∎ At least 3 years’ experience in communication, graphics design, advocacy for the development and humanitarian actors.
∎ 50% travel is expected.
∎ Understand Humanitarian crisis, multidisciplinary and transformational development
∎ Government policies related to key advocacy issues
∎ Proven management and leadership ability
∎ Effective Communication skills(verbal, written and listening)
∎ Strong analytical and writing skills both in English and Bengali
∎ Proven experience on digital communication
∎ Demonstrated collaboration & team building skills
∎ Understand advocacy theory, process, and practice.
∎ Proven experience to work on graphics design, photography, videography, PowerPoint, Microsoft word and excel
∎ Proven ability to write and produce publications like annual report, story books
∎ Competent in the use of Microsoft Office computer programs including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
