Responsibilities & Context: In addition to the responsibilities of a Merchandiser, a Senior Merchandiser typically handles more advanced tasks and supervisory roles, such as:
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of junior merchandisers.
- Allocate tasks and monitor team performance to ensure efficiency.
- Conduct training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement merchandising strategies to achieve business goals.
- Plan seasonal and promotional product lines in collaboration with the design and sales teams.
- Forecast demand and manage inventory levels to minimize costs and meet buyer needs.
Advanced Negotiation:
- Conduct high-level negotiations with key suppliers and buyers.
- Establish long-term partnerships and agreements to benefit the company.
Budget Management:
- Prepare and manage budgets for merchandising activities.
- Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effectiveness in procurement and production.
Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement in the merchandising process.
- Implement new systems and technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Analyze performance metrics and report findings to senior management.
Risk Management:
- Assess and mitigate risks related to production delays, quality issues, and supply chain disruptions.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential problems.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and address any issues or complaints.
- Seek opportunities to expand business with existing clients.
- Any other task assigned by management.
