ChefOnline is a UK-based online food-ordering platform and a Google Partner Digital Marketing Agency, as well as a Meta Business Partner (Agency Member). We support thousands of UK restaurants and takeaways with commission-free online ordering, branded websites, SEO, digital marketing, and integrated payment solutions.

Our platforms are business-critical, high-volume, and revenue-impacting — code quality, performance, and reliability are non-negotiable.

Key Responsibilities

Frontend (React)

• Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance web applications using React

• Convert UI/UX designs into clean, reusable components

• Optimise performance, responsiveness, and cross-browser compatibility

• Collaborate with designers on conversion-focused layouts

Backend (PHP)

• Build, maintain, and optimise backend systems using PHP

• Develop and integrate REST APIs

• Ensure secure handling of user data, transactions, and payments

• Optimise database performance and maintain legacy PHP systems where required

Platform & Architecture

• Contribute to platform architecture, scalability, and reliability decisions

• Ensure best practices in code quality, security, and documentation

• Support third-party integrations (payment gateways, analytics, APIs)

• Work closely with SEO and marketing teams on technical SEO compliance

Team & Delivery

• Mentor and support junior developers

• Participate in code reviews and enforce development standards

• Communicate progress clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders

• Take ownership from development through deployment

Required Skills & Experience

• 7–10 years of professional web development experience

• Strong commercial experience with React.js

• Strong backend development experience with PHP

• Experience building and consuming REST APIs

• Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+)

• Experience with relational databases (MySQL or similar)

• Proficiency with Git and version control workflows

• Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)

• IELTS score of 7.0 or above
