Job Purpose:
To support the Product Development, Costing and Industrial Engineering functions by preparing accurate operation bulletins, developing Standard Minute Values (SMV), analyzing garment wash processes, estimating production costs, and ensuring efficient production methods from development stage through bulk production while achieving buyer quality, productivity and profitability targets.
Responsibilities:
1. Product Development Support: Review buyer tech packs, wash recipes, and development samples to assess production feasibility; prepare process flows for new wash developments; participate in pre-production (PP) meetings; coordinate with Product Development, Merchandising, and Washing Laboratory teams; identify potential production risks during development; recommend process improvements before bulk production; and support pilot runs, development trials, and successful product commercialization.
2. Operation Bulletin Preparation: Develop and maintain operation bulletins for all washing processes by defining operation sequences from garment receiving to packing, establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), calculating operation-wise SMV, determining machine and manpower requirements, preparing process layouts, updating bulletins based on process improvements, and maintaining an organized operation bulletin database.
3. SMV & Work Study: Conduct time and motion studies to establish accurate Standard Minute Value (SMV) and Standard Allowed Minutes (SAM); evaluate operator performance; improve work methods; eliminate non-value-added activities; standardize production processes; and enhance overall operational efficiency through industrial engineering best practices.
4. Costing Support: Prepare IE costing sheets by estimating labor, manpower, machine running, and washing process costs; analyze production costs for each process; evaluate utility consumption including water, steam, electricity, and gas; support the Merchandising team in buyer costing; verify costing against production feasibility; and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality or productivity.
5. Capacity & Resource Planning: Calculate machine capacity, determine manpower requirements, prepare machine loading plans, estimate production capacity, identify bottleneck operations, and provide industrial engineering support to production planning for achieving optimum resource utilization and on-time delivery.
6. Process Engineering: Develop process flow charts and workflow diagrams, optimize material movement, improve production layouts, reduce process cycle time, enhance machine utilization, increase labor productivity, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to maximize operational efficiency.
7. Productivity Improvement: Monitor key performance indicators including production efficiency, labor productivity, machine utilization, washing efficiency, process losses, idle time, rework, and rejection rates; analyze performance trends; recommend corrective actions; and implement continuous improvement initiatives to achieve productivity targets.
8. Lean Manufacturing: Implement and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives by driving 5S, Kaizen, PDCA, Visual Management, Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why Analysis, Waste Elimination (Muda), and Standard Work practices to improve operational excellence, reduce waste, and sustain continuous process improvement.
9. Data Analysis & Reporting: Prepare and maintain Development Analysis Reports, Operation Bulletins, SMV Reports, Cost Analysis Sheets, Capacity Planning Reports, Productivity Reports, Daily IE Reports, Weekly Performance Reports, Monthly IE Dashboards, and Continuous Improvement Trackers to support data-driven decision-making and management reporting.
10. Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate effectively with Merchandising, Product Development, Washing Laboratory, Production, Quality Assurance, Planning, Maintenance, Finishing, Chemical Store, and Commercial teams to ensure smooth execution of development activities, production planning, process improvements, quality compliance, and timely shipment execution.
