Education:

• Honours/Bachelor pass in relevant discipline.

• Age 24 to 45 years

• Experience of working with Self Help Group / Disability of Support Committees of Persons with Disabilities.
• Ability to communicate with project stakeholders effectively.
• Excellent in time management and ability to take on multi-tasks.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of cultural sensitivity are highly desirable.
• Team Working, planning and organizing.

• Ability to conduct community sessions/ training sessions.

Job Context:

• The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a not for profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports. 

• CDD is one of the most renowned organizations in the field of disability-inclusive development. CDD’s work in Bangladesh is supported by international and national donor agencies/development partners. CDD offers an inclusive, amicable, and respectable work environment. 

• The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asian version of the Noble prize) has been awarded to its Executive Director in 2010. In 2018, CDD was recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as one of the best organizations working on disability and development issues. 

• CDD is now recruiting for the mentioned position under the project titled, ‘Ensure the well-being of people with disabilities by accessible healthcare services in Cox's Bazar’ to be implemented with the support of UK Guernsey. The duration of the project is till 30th September 2025. 

Job Description:      

• Formation of Self Help Group (SHG)/Disability Support Committee (DSC), & develop the capacity of SHG and DSC members.

• During the SHG/DSC meeting, assist group members to reach the meeting place and provide all kinds of logistic support.

• Promote engagement of SHG and DSC members in different meetings/trainings or in the local committees and service linkage.

• Screening for identifying clients by using the screening form.

• Organize & Facilitate awareness sessions in the community.

• Accompany client during referral process.

• Follow up the installation of accessibility feature in the client’s home (Home Modification).

• Home visit to review progress of client and report back to therapy assistant (to develop format for community mobilizer to report back to therapy assistant).

• Review how caregiver performing passive exercise and report back to TA (consider filming).      

• Alert therapy assistant on any referral needs (medical and mainstreaming).
