Responsibilities & Context:

Project-specific Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessment for home modifications, develop home modification plans, and ensure modification plans are aligned to the local environment.

  • Provide guidance and follow-up during home modification to ensure it follows the approved home modification designs.

  • To improve structural accessibility, assess and modify local infrastructures at Upazila and Unions, including health structures, schools, local governments, etc.

  • Assess daily living skills of children and youths with disabilities and guide partner staff and families to consider interventions for them.

  • Review the Logbook (individual development plan) of children and youths with disabilities.

  • Assess the needs of assistive devices and adapted devices for children and youths with disabilities.

  • Ensure accurate measurement of assistive devices and that assistive devices are customized as per the specific needs of children and youths with disabilities. Correctly fit and adapt wheelchairs, crutches, or walkers for rough rural terrain.

  • Design adaptive devices like specialized spoons, writing grips, or supportive seating using local wood, bamboo, or cardboard.

  • Design low-cost assistive devices using local materials like bamboo, wood, cardboard and paper-based assistive technology.

  • Teach children and families how to safely use, clean, and maintain assistive devices.

  • Train local health workers and volunteers in basic rehabilitation exercises and safe handling.

  • Train local CBR staff and community interns in basic rehabilitation exercises.

  • Educate parents and caregivers on safe lifting, feeding, and positioning strategies.

  • Train families in positioning techniques, feeding strategies, and sensory integration activities.

  • Conduct workshops for rural teachers on classroom adaptations and inclusive education.

  • Develop analytical reports and suggest to team members and Program Managers on critical gaps, challenges, lessons learned and make recommendations for improvement.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to CDD's Children and Adults at Risk Safeguarding policy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all project participants.

  • Promote a safe and secure environment for all participants and stakeholders of the project.

  • Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and follow the designated reporting procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform any other responsibility/ special duty delegated by project and CDD management.

  • CDD is accepting application for the position of ’Occupational Therapist’ under a project title ‘Meaningful participation and inclusion of children and youths with disabilities in all domains of CBR (MaPInCBR)’ to be implemented with the supported by the Liliane Fonds.

  • The Occupational Therapist (OT) will support partner organizations in designing, implementing, and monitoring community-based rehabilitation interventions for children and youth with disabilities. Operating mainly in rural settings, the role focuses on breaking down barriers to daily living, education, and social inclusion by utilizing local resources and empowering families. The OT will need to work closely with the CDD Rehabilitation Team under the Program Manager's leadership in coordination with the Senior Rehabilitation Officer.

  • Job Location: CDD Head Office, Savar, Dhaka with extensive field visits to Partner Organizations (minimum 40% of time).
