Responsibilities & Context:
∎ The Sector Specialist, Community Centre is responsible for the establishment, daily operation, and programming of integrated Community Centres (CCs) in Rohingya camps. The role ensures the centres are inclusive, safe, and vibrant spaces that promote social dialogue, empowerment, and access to services for all community members regardless of age, gender, or background. The position facilitates community-led activities, supervises volunteers, and coordinates with multiple sectors and stakeholders to deliver holistic and responsive services under one umbrella.
∎ Community Centre Establishment, Operations, and Supervision:
∎ • Lead the setup and operationalization of an Integrated Community Centre (CC) in Rohingya camp.
∎ • Ensure centres operate 5 days a week and maintain precise adherence to schedules.
∎ • Act as custodian of centre assets and infrastructure, ensuring regular maintenance, cleanliness, and minor repairs.
∎ • Supervise Community Centre-based volunteers, delegate tasks, monitor their performance, and oversee incentive distribution.
∎ • Maintain administrative functions of the centre including salary disbursement, bill processing, inventory tracking, and requisitions.
∎ • Ensure solar power, safety equipment, and logistical support (supplies, sports gear, craft tools) are functional and available.
∎ Community Engagement and Inclusive Programming :
∎ • Facilitate inclusive community-led initiatives and engagement activities (e.g., FGDs, art, sports, tailoring, VCWG, RLG, drama).
∎ • Organize and support recreational sessions, discussions, and skill-building programs for diverse groups: women, men, elderly, youth, LGBTQI+, and persons with disabilities.
∎ • Promote the use of CCs for GBV support, legal aid, MHPSS sessions, and life skills development through coordination with partners.
∎ • Conduct regular consultations with community groups to identify needs, adapt activities, and ensure accountability via feedback loops.
∎ • Facilitate youth and women-led environmental restoration activities, including camp clean-up and tree planting events.
∎ Coordination and Reporting:
∎ • Coordinate with CiC offices, Site Management, and other service providers to align activities and ensure uninterrupted delivery.
∎ • Ensure regular participation in CiC-led coordination meetings and contribute to cross-sectoral collaboration.
∎ • Submit daily and monthly reports using KOBO and other IM systems; compile qualitative and quantitative summaries of centre activities.
∎ • Lead information dissemination efforts using posters, flipcharts, and audio messaging approved by BRAC and government.
∎ Safeguarding Implementation:
∎ • Ensure the safety of Programme Participants, people who come into contact with the organisation and team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation including sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) to achieve the programme’s goals of safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
∎ • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
∎ • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place and encourage others to do so.
