Experience:

• Postgraduate in social science / anthropology/botany / geography / women and gender studies / environmental science/development studies from a reputed university in Bangladesh.

• At least 10 years

• At least 10 years of experiences with proven skill and competencies in coordinating and supporting BARCIK coastal team facilitating issues including agroecology, agrobiodiversity conservation, farmers led research, food sovereignty, environmental human rights, economic and non-economic loss and damage, resilience and climate justice. Responsible for research, policy advocacy and need based support to coastal team, support farming communities, non-timber forest products users, local communities and youth with maintaining close relation with journalists, educational institutions and other government and non-governmental institutions in coastal region especially in Satkhira, Khulna and Bagerhat districts.

• Should have good listening capacities and understanding farming, indigenous and local communities’ struggle;

• Should have the mentality to respect farming, indigenous and local communities’ and respect their dignity as sources of practical experiences, indigenous knowledge and associated local technologies.

• Demonstrate collaboration experience, and willingness to work jointly with like-minded organizations, interested researchers, policy advocates and communities.

• Candidates must demonstrate expertise in programme planning, budgeting, financial management, and staff management, along with experience in monitoring and evaluation.

• Experience in collaborating with local administration and government departments

• Good in communication and writing both in Bangla and English.

• Should have responsive, good personnel skill and gender sensitive.

• Good in operating MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint presentation etc.

• Candidate should have Motor bike driving license. Willing to stay at Shyamnagar Upazila level with frequent visit to the remote areas of the coastal region (Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat). Candidate should have good knowledge on safe guarding (Child Protection, Gender & Anti sexual harassment). Only experienced candidates are requested to apply.

• BARCIK(Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge) is a non-governmental non-profitable development organization. A group of development practitioners, researchers and social workers established BARCIK in 1997. BARCIK has been working in the fields of environment, agroecology, climate justice and food sovereignty and development exploring the potentiality of indigenous knowledge with utmost commitment and purpose since its inception. BARCIK is looking for a well-qualified male/female candidate for the immediate appointment of a Regional Coordinator to be posted in Shyamnagarupazila in Satkhira district.

Job Nature: Full-time initially for 1 (one) year and opportunity to extend based on performance.

Other benefit:1 festival bonus equivalent to 1 month gross salary.
