Job Overview
We are looking for motivated Purchase Officers to support our procurement operations in different regions. The role involves inspecting crop quality, assisting procurement processes, and ensuring that purchased agricultural commodities meet the company’s quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Inspection & Testing
Inspect and grade maize, paddy, and mustard seeds delivered at purchase points according to company standards.
Measure moisture content using standard equipment (e.g., digital moisture meters).
Assess grain purity, variety, color, size, weight, and presence of foreign matter.
Identify and reject substandard lots (broken grains, pest infestation, fungal growth, or discolored grains).
Maintain proper sampling protocols to ensure accurate inspection.
Procurement Support
Assist procurement officers in evaluating lots before purchase.
Ensure accurate weighing and documentation of accepted and rejected lots.
Communicate with farmers and traders regarding quality issues and provide feedback for improvement.
Coordinate with warehouse and transport teams to maintain crop quality after purchase.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure procurement processes follow food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Record inspection results in logbooks and digital systems.
Prepare daily quality reports and submit them to the Regional Procurement Manager / QA Head.
Maintain traceability records for each purchase transaction.
Farmer & Supplier Engagement
Educate farmers and suppliers on required quality standards (drying, cleaning, storage practices).
Provide feedback to improve product quality over time.
Risk Management
Detect and report issues such as adulteration, pest damage, or high aflatoxin risk in maize.
Ensure transparency when rejecting lots to avoid disputes.
Prevent compromised lots from entering the supply chain.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (Graduation) in any discipline (Agriculture-related background preferred).
1–3 years of relevant experience in procurement, agriculture, or crop quality inspection.
Knowledge of paddy, maize, and mustard seed quality assessment.
Familiarity with moisture meters and basic grain grading practices.
Good communication skills to work with farmers and suppliers.
Basic reporting and documentation ability.
Willingness to travel and work at field procurement points.
