∎ Minimum 5 years of working experience in development organizations, preference will be given for disaster management and livelihoods related experience in hard-to-reach area of Bangladesh.
∎ Knowledge on participatory action plan development for sustainable livelihoods and disaster response plan development.
∎ Experience in asset-based livelihoods development for vulnerable households.
∎ Training facilitation skill and capacity to organize the workshop, orientation at Upazila, Union and community level.
∎ Preference will be given to candidates with experience in climate smart agriculture, disaster risk reduction, natural resources management, market development approaches, etc.
∎ Basic knowledge on disaster management system at local level specifically Union Disaster Management Committee and Upazila Disaster Management Committee
∎ Good team member and skill team management and coordination skill with the government and other disaster relevant stakeholders.
∎ Experience working with government/governance stakeholders at a local level
∎ Willingness to drive motorcycles and local transport in remote areas.
∎ Experience working within the NGO context at a field level.
∎ Proficient knowledge of relevant software: MS Office package (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

∎ Supervises: Community Supervisors.
∎ Job location: Shyamnagar & Ashasuni Upazila, Satkhira District
∎ The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has selected a CARE Bangladesh led consortium to implement the project titled ‘Nature Based Adaptation towards Prosperous and Adept Lives & Livelihoods in Bangladesh (NABAPALLAB/ নবপল্লব)’ in two Ecologically Critical Areas (ECA) – Sundarbans and Hakaluki Haor. The other consortium members are CNRS, Cordaid, C3ER-BRAC University, Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK), Friendship, Humanity & Inclusion (HI), iDE, and Practical Action.
∎ FCDO’s NABAPALLAB aims to engage biodiversity and natural resource-dependent communities to strengthen the climate resilience of the ECAs, conserve biodiversity, and at the same time, diversify and improve people's livelihood through innovative nature-based (NBS) and locally led adaptation solutions in the districts of Bagerhat, Satkhira and Khulna in the Sundarbans ECA, and Maulvibazar and Sylhet in Hakaluki Haor.
∎ Cordaid (www.cordiad.org) is a Netherlands based INGO working in Bangladesh since 1972 and throughout the years, Cordaid promoted a climate smart food system for vulnerable communities in the southwest coastal region of Bangladesh. In the NABAPALLAB project, Cordaid will implement the livelihoods (off farm, on farm), Climate Smart Agriculture, Aquaculture, Fisheries and Weather Information services related interventions in Satkhira district under the Sundarbans ECA areas.
∎ The Project Officer will report to Field Operation Coordinator of Cordaid, Bangladesh. The overall responsibilities to mobilize the target communities & beneficiaries and provide management support to implement the project activities at field level.
∎ Conduct the community, union and upazila level induction meeting to orient the project activities.
∎ Assess the needs specifically livelihoods related needs at the field level.
∎ Select the Community Supervisors, supervise and provide logistics support to implement the project at field level.
∎ Assist to select the target beneficiaries as per project proposal and guideline.
∎ Develop the capacity through regular field visit, coaching, monitoring, and feedback.
∎ Establish complain feedback mechanisms to ensure the accountability and transparency of the project.
∎ Conduct participatory action plan development for sustainable and alternative livelihoods improvement for dependent households on Sundarbans.
∎ Assist the technical officer to assess the required inputs for income generating activities through consultation with the stakeholders.
∎ Ensure the income generating and livelihoods related asset transfer to the target households and monitor the achievements.
∎ Prepare livelihoods related Detailed Implementation Plan (DIP) with team and track the progress against plan in regular basis.
∎ Provide follow up monitoring support to field teams and learn project’s implementation challenges being actively present in field.
∎ Guide and train the community supervisor to implement the climate smart agriculture, aquaculture, blue economy related activities.
∎ Coordinate with the government extension service department to implement the project activities.
∎ Prepare the filed monitoring report and livelihoods related progress report in regular basis
∎ Assist the PMEL & communication team to prepare the documentation and capture the learnings.
∎ Ensure open and transparent communication with stakeholder including consortium staff.
∎ Maintain professional relationship with the stakeholders to establish good team harmony.
∎ Working days from Sunday to Thursday with 40 hours per week. This position may require working beyond office hours to attend meetings & other priorities as required by the donor for compliance, annual audit & so on;
∎ As this position is based in the project operation area, at least 70% of the time will be spent on field visits to support the implementation team.
∎ Willingness to ride motorbike for regular field visit.
∎ Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
∎ Follow the different policy of Cordaid such as HR policy, Financial Management Policy, Code of Conduct, Integrity, Sexual harassment policy, etc.
