Job Context:
∎ Looking For : Project Manager (Duck/Hen/Fish/Cattle) Hatchery & Farming
∎ The primary role of the Hatchery Manager is to manage all technical, administrative and financial aspects of the hatchery operation including vehicle and vessel fleet and facilities maintenance.
∎ Hatchery managers oversee all aspects of a poultry hatchery. This includes the management of personnel, eggs and equipment. They manage and coordinate, through supervisory personnel, hatchery activities such as egg pickup and delivery, care, incubation and hatching, grading, vaccination, preparation and shipping etc.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Manage and coordinate hatchery activities
∎ Plans, develops and implements policies and practices for operation of hatchery for making sure attainment of goals profitable operation.
∎ Arranges with farmers to supply eggs or obtains eggs from company owned flocks.
∎ Prepares hatching schedules for variety of chicks considering such factors as customer orders, market forecasts, and hatchery facilities equipment.
∎ Arranges for sale of chicks to farmers or commercial growers.
∎ Interprets hatchery records and genetic data on chicks advises customers regarding breeding, brooding, feeding, and sanitation practices to follow for various species of poultry.
∎ Arranges for purchases of equipment supplies, like brooders, incubators, feeds, and medicines.
∎ Prepares reports on hatchery activities, like chick production and sales reports required by regulatory bodies.
∎ May be designated by species of poultry hatched as Manager, Chicken Hatchery ; Manager, Duck Hatchery ; Manager, animal Hatchery etc.
∎ Oversee quality assurance program
∎ Monitor facility equipment and repairs
∎ Oversee hatchery sanitation
∎ Keep a current knowledge of industry trends
∎ Manage animal welfare program
∎ Plan and oversee hatchery budget
∎ Comply with all company policies and animal welfare guidelines
∎ Manage chick care, maintenance, packing and transfer activities
∎ Manage and maintain weekly hatch schedules
∎ Direct supervision of employees
∎ Fish hatchery manager determines, administers, and executes policies relating to administration, standards of hatchery operations, and facility maintenance.
∎ Oversees trapping and spawning of fish, egg incubation, and fry rearing, applying knowledge of management and fish culturing techniques.
∎ Oversees movement of mature fish to lakes, ponds, streams or commercial tanks.
∎ Collects information regarding techniques for collecting, fertilizing, incubating spawn, and treatment of spawn and fry.
∎ Accounts for and dispenses funds.
∎ Prepares reports required by state and federal laws.
∎ Prepares budget reports.
∎ Confers with biologists and other fishery personnel to obtain data concerning fish habits, food, and environmental requirements.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 25 to 40 years
∎ At least 3-7 year(s) in relevant field.
∎ Knowledge about the planning, procurement rules and budget preparation.
∎ Sound knowledge in the areas of office administration.
∎ Proven experience as business manager or relevant role
∎ Excellent organizational and leadership skills
∎ Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
∎ Thorough understanding of diverse business processes and strategy development
∎ Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
∎ Excellent knowledge of MS Office, databases and information systems
∎ Must possess a pleasant, friendly and proactive attitude.
∎ Good understanding of research, methods and data analysis techniques
