∎ Nutrition Assistant is responsible to implement, follow up and supervise basic nutrition services at the Primary Health care (PHC) Centres ran by Swiss Red Cross in partnership with other non-Governmental and Governmental stakeholders as per the package of Essential Health Services for Primary Health care level in the refugee’s camps.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Objective 1: Perform systematic detection of acute malnutrition among children under five (5) and Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW) at PHC center as per National package of Essential Health Services.
∎ Make sure that all the measurement tools are available and adequate in the center.
∎ Make sure the proper use and hygiene of measurement tools.
∎ Calibration of measurements instruments on daily basis.
∎ Warm welcome to the beneficiaries and their caregivers in the center.
∎ Advice properly the caregivers for proper measurements of their children.
∎ Taking anthropometric measurement of all under 5 children (height, weight, MUAC, checking bilateral edema and W/H percentage) referred by Community health worker or spontaneously presents to the centers.
∎ Recording the anthropometric measurement of the Pregnant and lactating mother and children (height, weight, MUAC, checking bilateral edema and W/H percentage) in the nutrition register and if possible on the individual GMP card.
∎ Ensure appropriate referral to the nearest nutrition centers as per the national CMAM protocol, and arrange that the beneficiary is accompanied to the nearest nutrition center.
∎ Objective 2: Ensure systematic referral of PLW and children under 5 years old to TSFP for Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM), to nearest OTP for Severe Acute Malnourished cases and to BSFP
∎ Mapping of nearest nutrition centers for referral purpose (OTP, TSFP and BSFP) in the catchment area of the health center,
∎ Explain the nutrition treatment, especially regular presence and follow up of the nutrition treatment to comply in the referred center, Provide referral slip to the caregivers and/or patients and ensure their enrollment in the nutrition referred structure.
∎ Objective 3: Make sure the screening, detection and referral mechanism through the network of volunteers is in place
∎ Ensure the community mobilization through the network of volunteers,
∎ Ensure screening of <5 children and PLW at household level through the community volunteers/community workers,
∎ Ensure all the children with the MUAC of >125 mm are referred from community/ mobile to PHC center for full measurements,
∎ Perform home visiting for supervise the Community volunteer works related to nutrition activities,
∎ Organize regular meeting with Community volunteers attached the PHC centers.
∎ Objective 4: Ensure adequate Health and nutrition education sessions in the PHC center for the caregivers of children U5, pregnant and lactating women
∎ Warm welcoming to the caregivers and beneficiaries.
∎ Sep up and follow the schedule of topics for health and nutrition education.
∎ Record the participants name and session in the health education registered book.
∎ Explain cause and consequence of malnutrition, importance of treatment and way to prevent malnutrition
∎ Provide health and nutrition educations to the caregivers and beneficiaries on (breastfeeding, complementary feeding, responsive feeding, hygiene, care practice, care of pregnant and lactating women and prevention of illness).
∎ Explain the importance of hygiene and sanitation for children and family member (safe water drinking, nail cutting, washing hand with soap before food preparation, feeding child, taking meal and after defecation and contact with any dirt etc.)
∎ Explain the nutrition treatment, follow up procedures in the nutrition center, especially regular presence, and follow up of the treatment.
∎ Explain the importance of hygiene and sanitation in the center and at home (nail cutting, washing hands before taking meal and after latrine.
∎ Conduct health and nutrition sessions according to the schedule.
∎ Ensure the utilization of breastfeeding corner for caregivers and their children in the center, if any.
∎ Objective 5: Internal and External Coordination
∎ Coordinate nutrition activities with other staff members operating at facility level,
∎ Participate actively to any internal and external meetings as required by the manager.
∎ Objective 6: Reporting
∎ Compile the daily/weekly/monthly screening data of U5 children at PHC
∎ Compile the daily/weekly/monthly screening data of PLW children at PHC
∎ Compile the daily/weekly/monthly referral data of (SAM and MAM) U5 children & PLW
∎ Ensure compilation of the daily/weekly/monthly screening data of U5 children at community level
∎ Ensure compilation of the daily/weekly/monthly screening data of PLW at community level
∎ Compile the daily/weekly/monthly Nutrition & Health education sessions and participants according to scheduled sessions
∎ Share the meeting minutes to line manager
∎ Inform any urgent issue to line manager/DPM/PM related to PHC
∎ Objective 7: Proactively support Action Against Hunger’s commitments to gender equality, child protection and disability sensitivity
∎ Read and ensure a full understanding of Action Against Hunger’s Gender Minimum Standards & Child Protection Policies, asking questions and/or for support when necessary
∎ Implement all work related activities with a gender, disability and child protection lens, taking into account the different needs, concerns and ideas of our staff and beneficiaries
∎ Ensure the incorporation of gender equity principles in all policies and activities
∎ Encourage the participation of all genders in meeting and on committees
∎ Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability.
Additional Requirements:
∎ 1 year experience working on Nutrition screening, measurements, Recording, Reporting, Health Education, referral and Community Mobilization.
∎ Working experience with local implementing partner/Government health system is preferable
∎ Ability to read, write and understand English
∎ Clear and understandable hand writing,
∎ Physical fitness,
∎ Good relations with other people and Good communication skills,

∎ Ability to work in a team,
∎ Bangla: excellent written and spoken

Salary: Tk. 29160 (Monthly)
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ Festival Bonus: 1 month Gross salary every year
∎ Provident Fund: 7.5% of Basic Salary
∎ Performance Bonus: from 30 % to 80% of monthly Gross salary per year depending on performance
