  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in donor fund accounting within international humanitarian or development organizations.

  • Minimum 8-10 years of management experience in foreign donation budgeting, donor reporting, and compliance requirements.

  • Strong knowledge of donor regulations (BMZ, GFFO, UN, USAID, GAC, EU, ECHO, and other major foundations).

  • Mandatory knowledge of VAT and Tax regulations in Bangladesh, including reporting and compliance requirements.

  • Proven experience coordinating financial due diligence, internal and external audits, and ensuring timely implementation of recommendations.

  • Demonstrated skills in budget preparation, donor financial reporting, and compliance management.

  • Strong accounting expertise, including management of ledgers, payroll, payables, and balance sheets.

  • Highly tech-savvy, with advanced computer skills in MS Office (particularly Excel) and cloud-based financial applications.

  • Strong supervisory, organizational, and intercultural communication skills, with the ability to guide partners in financial management and donor compliance.

  • Ability to interpret donor requirements and translate them into practical financial and operational implementation.

  • Demonstrates systems thinking by recognizing linkages between thematic priority areas, sectors, and financial processes, ensuring integrated and holistic financial analysis.

  • Shows a learning attitude by seeking feedback, reflecting on monitoring and evaluation findings, and supporting project adjustments.

Expert Finance, Bangladesh

Welthungerhilfe is seeking an Expert Finance to join our Bangladesh Country Office. This position is critical to ensuring that financial and administrative processes across projects and partner organizations are auditable, efficient, and compliant with Welthungerhilfe and donor standards.

The Expert Finance will support the Head of Finance, guide partner organizations, and ensure contractual obligations and records are properly maintained. The role focuses on strengthening partners’ financial systems, enhancing internal controls, and ensuring timely, high-quality donor reporting. It also involves building staff and partner capacity, promoting automation for efficiency and data accuracy, and providing strategic guidance to minimize risk and safeguard donor trust.

Your Responsibilities

Financial Oversight & Compliance

  • Ensure that all financial processes of the country programme are auditable, efficient, and aligned with Welthungerhilfe standards.
  • Guarantee eligibility of expenses in accordance with NGOAB, donor, and WHH regulations.
  • Maintain robust systems for verifying expenditures and supporting documentation.

Partner Support & Capacity Building

  • Provide guidance to cooperative partners on donor compliance, financial management, and quality implementation.
  • Coordinate training and capacity building initiatives for programme teams and partner organizations to strengthen financial accountability.

Risk Management & Audit Support

  • Identify, monitor, and proactively respond to emerging financial risks related to co-funding.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring smooth processes, timely responses, and effective implementation of recommendations.
  • Facilitate financial reviews and due diligence exercises with donors and co-financers.

Budgeting & Reporting

  • Prepare and deliver accurate, timely donor financial reports and project budgets.
  • Engage with donors and co-financers on financial modalities for ongoing and planned projects.

Innovation & Efficiency

  • Promote the use of automation and digital tools to improve efficiency, transparency, and data accuracy.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of financial systems and processes within the country programme.
