Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline preferable in social sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Agriculture, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Age At most 45 years
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in livelihood activities with persons with disabilities / Carers of persons with disabilities or disability-inclusive programming.

  • Experience in working with SHGs, or community-based organizations is strongly preferred.

  • Knowledge on market systems and rural livelihoods in Bangladesh

  • Good communication and report-writing skills in Bangla and English

  • Understanding of Carers issues, disability inclusion, gender equality, and rights-based approaches

  • Ability to work independently and lead, coordinate, and manage field team.

  • Commitment to Carers leadership and inclusive development

  • Effective communication, conflict management and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent team management skills.



Responsibilities & Context:

*** Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Carers Worldwide model, livelihood, including income-generating activities (IGAs), skills development training, and market linkage initiatives.

  • Develop training modules in line with the project instructions.

  • Select carers based on assessments and form training batches according to the project design.

  • Conduct selection and assessment of carers for livelihood training in the trades mentioned in the project.

  • Facilitate the opening of bank accounts for individual carers SHGs.

  • Transfer grants project to Carers’ SHGs based on assessment results.

  • Support carers in purchasing selected livelihood equipment or goods to start their livelihood activities.

  • Prepare guidelines for carers on how to receive grants from their groups and how to repay the received grants to the carers’ groups.

  • Provide technical support to selected carers for livelihood activities, along with follow-up support to enhance their livelihood capacities.

  • Link carers with existing government safety net programs to ensure the sustainability of their livelihood activities.

  • Maintain close collaboration with local government institutions, line departments, and service providers.

  • Maintain accurate field records, beneficiary profiles, photographs, and case studies.

  • Prepare progress reports as per project requirements and track progress against planned initiatives.

  • Support carers in marketing their products.

  • Ensure project implementation is aligned with existing carers’ project activities.

  • Conduct awareness meeting on Carers Worldwide model and livelihood activities.

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to CDD's Children and Adults at Risk Safeguarding policy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all project participants.

  • Promote a safe and secure environment for all participants and stakeholders of the project.

  • Report any safeguarding concerns promptly and follow the designated reporting procedures.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform any other responsibility/ special duty delegated by project and CDD management.

  • The Centre for Disability in Development (CDD) is a not for profit organization established in 1996 to develop a more inclusive society for persons with disabilities. CDD simultaneously builds technical capacities of the development stakeholders and the communities in how to be more inclusive whilst also enabling persons with a disability to participate in society by strengthening their leadership and providing them with essential rehabilitation and other supports.

  • CDD is a prominent organization in the field of disability-inclusive development. CDD’s work in Bangladesh is supported by international and national donor agencies/development partners. CDD offers an inclusive, amicable, and respectable work environment.

  • The Ramon Magsaysay Award (Asian version of the Noble prize) has been awarded to its Executive Director in 2010. In 2018, CDD was recognized by the Government of Bangladesh as one of the best organizations working on disability and development issues.

  • CDD is accepting application for the position of ‘Livelihood Officer’ under a project title ‘Promoting the sustainability of wellbeing programmes for carers of persons with disabilities and mental health conditions in Savar sub-district and Dinajpur district in Bangladesh’ to be implemented with the support of Carers Worldwide. The duration of the project is till 31st March 2027. The selected candidate will initially be hired for a three-month probationary period. Upon successful completion of this period, his/her employment contract will be renewed on an annual basis.
