Education / Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in social science or relevant field

Experience:

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in project coordination or management

  • Good understanding of migration governance, safe migration, ethical recruitment, and transnational family dynamics

  • Experience managing teams of 2+ staff members

  • Demonstrated research experience, including coordination of qualitative field research 

Languages:

  • Fluent English and Bangla (written and spoken)

IT Knowledges:

  • Ability to operate Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint



Responsibilities & Context:

Terre des hommes Bangladesh is implementing CASTLE II, a multi‑country EU‑funded project focused on strengthening Hybrid Transnational Social Protection for Bangladeshi labour migrants and their families, in partnership with Babeș‑Bolyai University and Tdh offices in Romania and Greece. The project combines applied research, policy engagement, capacity building, and community‑based interventions across origin and destination countries. The Migration Technical Specialist will play a central role in ensuring effective implementation, research coordination, and stakeholder engagement in Bangladesh, while maintaining close alignment with international partners.

Project management and oversight:

  • Lead implementation of project activities in Bangladesh in line with the approved proposal, activity plan, budget, and timelines.

  • Directly supervise the assigned staff, including their recruitment, performance management, providing technical support for the implementation of project activities.

  • Ensure effective collaboration between programme, research, MEAL, and finance teams.

  • Serve as the budget holder for the project, overseeing financial planning, expenditure, and reporting processes.

  • Track progress against outputs and outcomes; identify risks and propose mitigation measures.

  • Support adaptive management based on evidence, learning, and contextual changes.

Stakeholder engagement:

  • Act as focal point for coordination with UN agencies, INGOs, NGOs, and relevant networks in Bangladesh.

  • Maintain close operational and technical coordination with Tdh Romania and Tdh Greece, ensuring alignment of approaches and shared learning.

  • Coordinate with Babes-Bolyai University (BBU), Romania, particularly on research, analysis, and knowledge products.

  • Support participation in national and international coordination platforms related to migration and child protection.

Reporting and compliance:

  • Contribute to high-quality narrative reports, briefs, and presentations for donors and partners.

  • Ensure timely collection and consolidation of data for reporting and learning purposes.

  • Support donor communications, meetings, and field visits as required.

  • Document lessons learnt and good practices to inform future programming.

  • Ensure project implementation complies with Tdh policies, safeguarding standards, and ethical guidelines.

Technical leadership:

  • Act as a technical resource on migration within the country office, supporting quality and coherence of migration‑related programming

  • Contribute technical inputs to the development of migration‑focused concept notes and proposals, in collaboration with programme and resource mobilisation teams

  • Support strengthening of internal technical capacity on migration through sharing knowledge, lessons learnt, and good practice

  • Help ensure programmes are informed by relevant research, policy analysis, and contextual understanding of migration dynamics

  • Support engagement in technical discussions and networks on migration to inform programme development and partnership building
