Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Implement Bangladesh sourcing strategy to offer maximum competitive advantage for JDW.
∎ Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to get this implemented.
∎ Introduce suppliers and material vendors as required.
∎ Review existing supply base to address sourcing gaps, ensure that the supply base developed is competitive and appropriate for quality standards, prices and lead-time.
∎ Review and coordinate the negotiation of the product costing between brand and factory, based on target prices from the Brand. Conduct cross costing and tendering exercises.
∎ Plan capacities with suppliers for production & fabrics.
∎ Manage time and action function and report exceptions to buying teams.
∎ Plan and work with suppliers on repeats and obtaining on time samples.
∎ Solve day-to-day problems and escalate issues likely to cause delays to shipment or quality of product
∎ Determining and managing the costs within the department, delivering cost reductions and operational efficiencies where possible
∎ Working with the Category Teams to review product development and planning procedures to improve speed to market and to provide greater flexibility and shorter lead times.
∎ Maintain effective and professional working relationships with the JDW’s UK teams,
∎ Ensure that goals and objectives are set and formally reviewed regularly with clear key performance measurements and expectations.
∎ Working with supply chain and wider business to deliver ‘best in class’ systems and processes.
∎ Being an effective people manager providing leadership, coaching and support as necessary to meet individual development goals and develop a strong global succession plan.
∎ Be aware of the market movements, trends, competitors’ activities etc and ensure relevant guidance and direction are provided to the team in UK and Asia.
∎ Work with logistic providers to co-ordinate shipments and timely follow up of documentation.
∎ To contribute to and develop the Bangladesh merchandising team. A key member of the JD Williams operations team, responsible for developing and driving the sourcing for the business ensuring that all activity undertaken by JD Williams achieves an effective balance of cost, quality and service consistent efficiency and performance with delivering the brand strategy. Own the process from range sign off through to FOB, driving and ensuring compliance to all Group Corporate Responsibility standards and practices.
