• In short, a Manager – Quality (Process) in washing must be technically strong, buyer-compliant, process-driven, and a good team leader who ensures consistent quality, efficiency, and sustainability in all washing operations.

• Quality Management & Process Control

  • Ensure that all washing processes (enzyme, bleach, stone, pigment, acid wash, etc.) are carried out as per buyer’s standard requirements.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each washing process.

  • Control process parameters (temperature, time, chemical dosage, liquor ratio, etc.) to maintain consistent quality.

  • Monitor shade variations, shrinkage, fastness properties, and hand-feel as per buyer specifications.

• Planning & Execution

  • Plan and allocate quality resources (inspectors, checkers, lab technicians) across washing units.

  • Coordinate with production and R&D teams to ensure smooth sample-to-bulk transition.

  • Ensure on-time in-line and final inspections to meet shipment deadlines.

• Buyer & Compliance Requirements

  • Ensure washing quality standards are aligned with customer/buyer requirements.

  • Maintain proper documentation and records for buyer audits and compliance.

  • Handle buyer/third-party quality inspection teams and ensure approvals.

• Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, guide, and train quality controllers, in-line checkers, and lab staff on process control and quality systems.

  • Conduct regular training on chemical handling, shade approvals, safety, and environmental compliance.

  • Build a strong quality culture across the washing plant.

• Troubleshooting & Improvement

  • Analyze and resolve process-related quality issues (shade variation, patch marks, streaks, back staining, softness, etc.).

  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action plans (CAPA) for recurring defects.

  • Work with R&D/technical team on process improvement and new washing techniques.

• Coordination with Other Departments

  • Liaise with Merchandising, Production, and Technical teams to ensure buyer requirements are met.

  • Coordinate with the Laboratory for wash test approvals before bulk execution.

  • Communicate quality feedback to production for corrective actions.

• Reporting & Analysis

  • Monitor and report Key Performance Indicators (KPI) such as First-Pass Yield, Rejection Rate, Rework Rate, and Buyer Claim Percentage.

  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly quality reports for senior management.

  • Analyze data to identify trends and initiate preventive actions.

• Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Compliance

  • Ensure safe handling of chemicals and compliance with environmental regulations (effluent standards, ZDHC, etc.).

  • Implement eco-friendly washing processes and sustainable practices.

  • Present process quality improvement reports to senior management.
