Education:

Master's degree in Textile Chemistry, Textile Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related discipline; PhD an advantage for candidates with strong applied R&D experience.

•Strong scientific and technical leadership across chemistry, process engineering and analytical disciplines; sound judgement in translating lab-scale results into scalable, production-relevant outcomes.

•Excellent project management, planning and prioritization skills across a multi-project, multi-laboratory portfolio; strong cross-functional coordination with the Prototyping Laboratory and Testing Laboratory teams.

•Good understanding of chemical safety, hazardous-materials handling and HSE practices relevant to dyeing, finishing and coating operations.

•Strong communication and reporting skills; fluency in Bengali, strong working English (spoken and written, including technical/scientific reporting); proficient in MS Office and standard laboratory/data-analysis tools.

•Minimum 8–10 years' experience in textile/apparel materials research and development, including hands-on experience in dyeing, finishing, or coating process development and analytical/instrumental characterization.

•Proven experience managing multiple concurrent R&D or NPD (new product development) projects, ideally within an apparel, textile mill, or textile chemical/finishing-supplier environment.

•Familiarity with textile testing standards (AATCC, ISO, ASTM) sufficient to interpret test results and specify R&D screening criteria; experience working alongside or within an accredited testing laboratory is an advantage



Responsibilities & Context:

1. R&D Project Portfolio Management

• Manage approximately 10 concurrent R&D projects covering materials, yarns, fabrics, dyeing, finishing, and coating/lamination from feasibility to completion.

• Set project plans, milestones, resources, risks, and success criteria, and report progress to relevant management and stakeholders.

2. Materials and Process Development

• Lead development trials in dyeing, chemical processing, finishing, drying, coating, and lamination laboratories.

• Develop scalable formulations and processes for future production transfer.

• Oversee rapid material screening and performance evaluation using dedicated R&D testing equipment.

3. Analytical and Instrumental Characterisation

• Lead analytical characterization using SEM, FT-IR, TGA/DSC, rheometers, viscosimeters, goniometers, and other instruments.

• Ensure accurate data recording, interpretation, repeatability, and application to process and formulation improvements.

4. Laboratory Coordination

• Coordinate with the R&D Pilot Manager for prototyping and sample development.

• Work with the Head of Testing Laboratory to arrange independent accredited validation of completed R&D samples.

5. People Management and Development

• Lead and develop chemists, technicians, and analytical staff.

• Allocate manpower and equipment across projects and identify training and competency requirements.

6. Chemical Handling, Equipment and HSE

• Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals in compliance with HSE requirements.

• Provide technical input for laboratory equipment specification, procurement, installation, and acceptance.

7. Budget, Documentation and IP

• Manage the operating budget for chemicals, dyes, consumables, and other R&D requirements.

• Maintain project records, formulations, trial data, and analytical results to support knowledge management, IP protection, and technology transfer.
