Education:

Diploma in Textile Engineering / Textile Technology or a closely related technical discipline is preferred.

Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering or a related field are also welcome; a Bachelor's degree will be considered an advantage, but is not mandatory.

Strong practical machine skills and relevant hands-on experience may be considered more important than a higher academic qualification.

  • Age At most 45 years

•Preferably 2–5 years of practical experience in weaving, knitting, fabric sampling, textile product development or a textile R&D / sample development environment.

•Hands-on experience operating and setting up weaving and/or knitting machines is required.

•Experience with sampling looms, sample knitting machines, pilot-scale textile equipment or development/sample rooms will be a significant advantage.

•Candidates should be comfortable spending most of their working time directly operating equipment and preparing samples.

Additional Requirements

•Good practical knowledge of woven and/or knitted fabric structures, yarn types and basic textile manufacturing processes.

•Ability to understand machine settings and make practical adjustments during sampling and development trials.

•Good mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability.

•Ability to follow technical instructions and SOPs accurately while also recognizing when a trial or machine condition is abnormal.

•Basic familiarity with fabric testing and measurement methods is an advantage.

•Ability to maintain clear and accurate trial records and basic technical reports.

•Fluency in Bengali (spoken and written) is required. A good command of spoken and written English is required, including the ability to understand and maintain technical conversations, read and understand technical manuals, specifications, and instructions, and write clear technical reports in English.

•Curiosity, willingness to learn new equipment and processes, attention to detail and a hands-on working attitude.

•Ability to work effectively with R&D staff, laboratory colleagues, maintenance personnel and factory teams.



Responsibilities & Context:

•Operate sampling loom, knitting machine and related pilot-scale equipment to produce woven and/or knitted fabric samples for R&D projects.

•Set up machines for trials, including yarn preparation, basic machine settings, construction parameters and other adjustments required for sample development.

•Prepare fabric and yarn samples based on instructions, development briefs, reference samples or target specifications.

•Carry out repeated trials and practical adjustments to machine settings and process parameters until the required sample quality or construction is achieved.

•Identify routine machine or sampling problems, perform basic troubleshooting and report more complex technical issues to the R&D Pilot Manager or relevant maintenance/engineering personnel.

•Record yarn details, fabric construction, machine settings, process parameters, observations and sample results accurately for each trial.

•Perform basic fabric characterization such as construction analysis, GSM, thickness, yarn count and dimensional measurements, and coordinate additional testing with the Testing Laboratory when required.

•Maintain machines, tools and the working area in good operating condition, including routine cleaning, inspection and basic preventive maintenance according to instructions.

•Maintain an organized physical sample library and technical records for development trials.

•Support engineers, R&D project staff and the R&D Pilot Manager in prototyping, sample preparation and feasibility trials.

•Learn to operate new textile and pilot-scale equipment introduced to the R&D Centre and support development activities across different projects when required.
