Responsibilities & Context:

A reputed and fast-growing knitwear and garment manufacturing group in Bangladesh, with integrated knitting, dyeing, finishing, and garment manufacturing units serving leading international buyers, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic professional for the position of DGM / GM, Planning (Central Planning) at its Narayanganj facility. The incumbent will own the Central Planning function that sits above all unit-level planning: garments planning, knitting planning, textile (dyeing and finishing) planning, and supply chain management will all operate under this umbrella. The role requires a deep understanding of central planning, meaning the ability to balance buyer orders against the combined capacity of every unit, synchronize raw material and fabric flow with production, and keep the entire value chain running on time, in full, and at optimum cost. The ideal candidate is a senior planning leader who can bring structure, visibility, and discipline to a multi-unit, vertically integrated operation.

Central Planning Leadership

  • Lead the Central Planning function and act as the single point of control for order allocation, capacity planning, and delivery commitments across all units and departments.

  • Develop and own the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, aligning Marketing, Merchandising, Sourcing, Production, and Commercial teams on one plan.

  • Evaluate every new order for feasibility against knitting, dyeing, finishing, cutting, sewing, and shipment capacity before booking confirmation, and provide clear go or no-go recommendations.

  • Allocate orders across factories and units based on product type, capacity, skill, lead time, and cost to achieve balanced loading and maximum utilization.

  • Prepare long-term, medium-term, and short-term capacity forecasts and booking plans, and advise management on capacity expansion or outsourcing needs.

  • Establish and monitor the Time and Action (T&A) calendar at central level and track critical path milestones from order confirmation to shipment.

  • Resolve inter-unit conflicts, bottlenecks, and priority clashes with a clear, data-based decision process.

  • Set up and run daily, weekly, and monthly planning review meetings with unit heads and top management.

Garments Planning

  • Oversee garment production planning covering cutting, sewing, finishing, and packing for all garment units.

  • Guide line loading, line balancing, and SAM-based capacity calculation in coordination with Industrial Engineering.

  • Plan style-wise and PO-wise production schedules to ensure on-time and in-full shipment.

  • Monitor daily production achievement against plan, identify shortfalls early, and drive corrective action.

  • Plan overtime, manpower, and machine requirements in line with order flow and compliance limits.

Knitting Planning

  • Oversee knitting program planning, including machine-wise loading by gauge, diameter, and fabric type.

  • Convert garment requirements into fabric and yarn requirements with accurate consumption and wastage factors.

  • Plan yarn requirement, issue, and knitting sequence in line with dyeing and cutting priorities.

  • Coordinate in-house knitting with sub-contract knitting where capacity is short, and monitor delivery and quality.

  • Track knitting efficiency, machine utilization, and gray fabric output versus plan.

Textile Planning (Dyeing and Finishing)

  • Oversee dyeing, finishing, and other fabric process planning, including batch planning, shade-wise loading, and machine capacity utilization.

  • Synchronize gray fabric availability with dyeing and finishing schedules to avoid idle capacity and fabric waiting time.

  • Plan finished fabric delivery to cutting sections in line with the garment production plan.

  • Monitor right-first-time, re-dyeing, and re-processing rates in coordination with Quality, and reduce planning losses.

  • Coordinate utility, chemical, and dye requirements with the production and procurement teams in line with the plan.

Supply Chain Management

  • Own end-to-end supply chain planning from buyer order to shipment, covering yarn, fabric, trims, accessories, packing materials, and finished goods.

  • Prepare material requirement plans (MRP) with accurate lead times and communicate timely requirements to Sourcing and Procurement.

  • Monitor supplier delivery performance, follow up on delayed materials, and arrange alternatives to protect the production schedule.

  • Coordinate with Commercial, Import, and Logistics teams on shipment of materials and customs clearance to meet in-house dates.

  • Manage inventory planning for yarn, gray fabric, finished fabric, and trims to maintain optimum stock levels and reduce dead stock and holding cost.

  • Coordinate with the Warehouse and Store teams for material receipt, inspection, and issuance as per plan.

  • Plan outbound logistics, shipment booking, and export schedules with Commercial and Shipping teams.

  • Drive supply chain cost reduction through lead time compression, better material utilization, and vendor consolidation.

Systems, Reporting, and Performance

  • Drive the use of ERP and advanced planning tools for real-time visibility of orders, capacity, materials, and production status.

  • Define and monitor planning KPIs such as on-time delivery, capacity utilization, order fulfillment rate, lead time, WIP, and inventory turnover.

  • Prepare regular management reports and dashboards on order status, capacity versus booking, delivery risk, and material status.

  • Conduct root cause analysis for delivery delays and implement preventive actions.

  • Develop planning policies, SOPs, and standard templates to ensure consistency across all units.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the planning team across garments, knitting, textile, and supply chain functions.

  • Build a strong planning culture based on data, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by management from time to time.
