Job Purpose:

To plan, lead and control end-to-end import operations and commercial activities, ensuring timely procurement support, regulatory compliance, cost efficiency and accurate documentation in alignment with organizational policies and international trade regulations.

• Plan, coordinate and manage the overall import process for raw materials, equipment, spare parts and other required items in compliance with company policies and government regulations.

• Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, insurers and C&F agents to ensure smooth execution of import activities.

• Handle L/C opening, amendment, negotiation and document retirement in coordination with banks, ensuring proper scrutiny of L/C terms and timely foreign remittance as per contractual obligations.

• Oversee customs clearance processes by coordinating with C&F agents and ensuring timely submission of documents to avoid delays, demurrage, or penalties.

• Negotiate sea freight and air freight rates with freight forwarders and shipping lines to ensure cost-effective and timely shipment arrangements.

• Maintain liaison with regulatory and government agencies to ensure compliance with import regulations and facilitate smooth clearance of shipments.

• Ensure accurate preparation, verification and submission of import-related documents and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

• Monitor and control import-related costs, identify cost-saving opportunities through negotiation and shipment planning and prepare landed cost analysis and commercial reports for management review.

• Provide commercial support for budgeting, material planning and sourcing decisions.

• Develop and implement SOPs for import and commercial activities to ensure process standardization.

• Drive process improvements to ensure faster clearance, reduced lead time and enhanced compliance.
