Job Context:
∎ The position will provide support and assistance to individuals and communities with the objective to facilitate resolution to non-criminal matters through mediation. The protection program works to provide assistance to men, women, boys and girls through protection monitoring, information sharing, legal assistance and protection mainstreaming, and works to reduce risks to their safety and well-being in accordance with international humanitarian principles of safety and dignity. (S)He will provide mediation to beneficiaries and advise on options to solve their particular problem. (S)He follow up and provide support as needed throughout the alternative dispute resolution and will coordinate with WPE, CP and other NGOs as needed. In addition, the (s)he will liaise with the local authorities at camp and host community level and will build the necessary relationships that will allow for quality legal programming. In addition to managing individual caseloads, the legal officer will also manage the client`s information by keeping the data, updating it as required, contributing to regular evaluation of the client`s needs by managing care plans for them, ensuring the cases are monitored, and closing them. (S)He will report to the Senior PROL Officer and work closely with WPE and CP teams.

Job Responsibilities:
∎ Provide individual support in cases in Ukhia and Teknaf camps in line with best practices and IRCs minimum standards through mediation
∎ Lead in training of community leaders on Mediation and Alternative dispute resolution.
∎ Ensure the correct documentation and compilation of mediation forms in accordance with all case management steps and related tools and procedures.
∎ Identify legal gaps and provide legal counseling and information at individual and community level on access to rights and entitlements.
∎ Provide support to individual cases and guidance at community level for women, girls, boys and men wishing to access registration centers or/and need support with marriage and birth certificates.
∎ Organize and deliver capacity building initiatives for community leaders, block representatives, CIC, local authorities on the justice system, the national legislation and the access to justice process
∎ Participate and support the identification of protection cases and refer if needed.
∎ Actively engage in all capacity building opportunities including formal trainings, on the job mentorship and peer to peer sessions.
∎ Complete work plans with each client, including needs assessments and clients' satisfaction surveys.
∎ Ensure that ethical and sound data collection and information management is implemented for appropriate data analysis and monitoring and evaluation activities.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Minimum of 2 years of experience in mediation, legal work, case management, promotion of women's and/or family well-being, or other related field
∎ Strong understanding of humanitarian protection principles and standards
∎ Deep understanding of protection, working with case management and PSS programing
∎ Demonstrated experience with working with justice mechanisms including informal justice systems at camp level
∎ Demonstrated experience with liaising with government officials including courts, prosecutor, police, investigators etc.
∎ Demonstrated organizational, management and reporting skills
∎ High standards written and Bangla and English are required
∎ People who have knowledge in Chittaagonian dialects will get preference
Salary: Tk. 48500 (Monthly)
