Master’s degree in development studies, marketing, or other relevant subject.
Overall 10 years of professional experience in proposal development, fundraising, communications, social enterprise development, profile building, business promotion and advocacy.
Experience of developing and leading ambitious, viable strategies.
Excellent knowledge of the Bangladesh context, ideally related to: Urban Resilience, Energy, Ariculture and Food Systems, and/or Climate & Resilience·
Proven track record of leading portfolio growth ·
Experience of managing a high performing team to achieve results and ability to drive change processes, bringing people along on the journey·
Proven track record of managing multi-million pound portfolios, ensuring business viability, compliance, delivery and controls.

The overall objective of the position is to lead the business development and advocacy, marketing & communications unit for smooth and sustained operation of the country program. The lead must ensure that the processes in every degree consistent with organizational policy and complies with the country programme.
The Lead is expected to lead the business development for the country office. He/she will be leading the marketing of the social enterprise intervention across national and international forums and networks. Bangladesh country office has a full-fledged business development team, having manager, officer/s and thematic experts to contribute in the process, alongside regional and group(UK) teams to provide with reviews and feedback. The role is expected to steer most of the external communication with donors, potential partners, government, private sector stakeholders and association, as well as, internal communication to facilitate cross theme and cross team collaboration for smooth business development.
In course of business development, the Lead will keep close contact with the Asia Regional Team, as well as, the Group (UK) office so as to maintain the efficiency of the role smooth and consistent delivery on part of the business development unit.
Provide leadership for compelling storytelling that demonstrates impact and report on progress towards our contribution / impact.
Actively contribute to the development of our brand essence and positioning by representing Practical Action at appropriate stakeholder and industry fora, raising our profile and supporting our approach to relationship management.
Provide leadership on our impact model, demonstrating highly visible leadership on gender equality, social inclusion, locally led development, climate risk, and systems thinking.
Lead advocacy strategies and initiatives to leverage change in line with Practical Action’s ambitions, linking national and global change ambitions for achieving maximum impact.
Participate and contribute to the national, regional and international discourse on policy and practice in the fields of climate resilience, urban resilience and green and inclusive economy for transforming the lives of the poor. The Lead is expected to identify key agenda for advocacy and communication under the themes and develop appropriate advocacy, marketing and promotion strategy. The country team has a well-equipped communications team in place. The role will provide guidance, follow up and provide feedback to the team for rolling out market promotion strategy for the niche area of the organization.
Develop and nurture strategic relationships and partnerships with ministries,departments and their large-scale programmes/portfolios, private sector and relevant networks, research and academic orgathe nisations, peer agencies, network/alliances/societies to advance the change ambition. Also include relevant strategic partners including UN organisations, development banks, research and academic institutes, network/alliance as relevant.
As identified and requested by the regional team, the Lead is expected to provide technical input to support the development of new partnerships with other regional bodies, especially Private Sector organisations.
Delivering Performance as One Practical Action
Demonstrate strong leadership and innovation in the design of our future programme, embedding the “Innovate, Demonstrate, Transform” model into our approach and business plans.
Provide thematic expertise in the design and delivery of both consultancies and projects.
Deepen the impact achieved in climate, DRR and rural resilience by Country Offices of Practical Action in Asia (both NGO and PAC) by supporting and building capacities of the relevant team members.
Provide technical assistance to the programme/ projects of the COs and Practical Action Consulting (PAC) under respective goal/ sub-goals.
Provide feedback to ensure quality and integration of technical approaches in delivery.
Design and organize capacity building training for Programme Staff in the COs in relation to climate resilience, DRR and disaster risk financing.
Donor relationships for large scale and/or complex projects.
