  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.

  • Strong field facilitation skills with experience in village-level programme implementation.

  • Willingness to spend a significant amount of time in the field.

  • Familiarity with the biophysical and socio-economic conditions of Lalmonirhat district.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment with good interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and make timely decisions.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in Bangla, English, and the local language.

  • Proactive, participatory approach to decision-making and problem-solving.

  • Sound understanding of gender equity and protection issues.

  • Willingness to perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor or management.



Responsibilities & Context:

Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) started its journey in 1988 with a noble vision to stand in solidarity with the poor and marginalized. Being a peoples` entered organization, ESDO envisioned for a society which will be free from inequality and injustice, a society where no child will cry from hunger and no life will be ruined by poverty. Near about three decades of relentless efforts to make this happen, ESDO has embraced new grounds and opened up new horizons to help the disadvantaged and vulnerable people to bring meaningful and lasting changes in their lives. During this long span, ESDO has adapted with the changing situation and provided the most time-bound services especially for the poor and disadvantaged. A community focused and people centered approach has been adapted by ESDO while consideration was given to the national policy and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as its guiding principle. ESDO is one of the most dynamic organizations expanding its development interventions across 422 upazilas under 56 districts of Bangladesh covering over 15 million poor and vulnerable people.

Presently, ESDO is implementing the Healthy Village in Urban (HVU) programme in Lalmonirhat Municipality and six peri-urban unions within Lalmonirhat district. The HVU programme is an innovation developed by Max Foundation Bangladesh.

ESDO is inviting applications from interested and qualified candidates for the position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly activity plans, achievements, and progress reports for management and development partners.

  • Perform duties as Entrepreneurship Development Officer for all programme activities within the assigned district under the supervision of the Programme Manager.

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the Market Systems Development (MSD) approach, including facilitation, coaching, relationship building, effective communication, and openness to working on new initiatives.

  • Identify and engage potential market actors, including sanitation and hygiene entrepreneurs, dealers, retailers, and lead firms.

  • Implement market linkage and business development activities related to nutrition, water, and sanitation.

  • Assess and strengthen the skills and competencies of sanitation and hygiene–related entrepreneurs (e.g., latrine producers) in areas such as financial literacy, marketing, supply chain development, public-sector linkages, and technical capacity.

  • Build rapport and trust with sanitation and hygiene entrepreneurs to ensure effective communication and sustainable linkage development.

  • Facilitate the development of business plans for sanitation and women entrepreneurs.

  • Liaise closely with relevant private sector actors (SMEs, associations, specialized organizations), government bodies, NGOs/INGOs, and other projects at district and sub-district levels.

  • Maintain proper records and documentation of programme implementation processes.

  • Support field staff in coordinating with government, non-government, and private agencies for cooperation, collaboration, and programme sharing at the local level, as required.

  • Conduct capacity-building activities for Community Business Promoters (CBPs), engaging government and private-sector actors, including linkage support.

  • Share weekly field activity updates with the Programme Manager.

  • Supervise Urban Community Mobilization Facilitators to ensure timely and quality implementation of activities.

  • Continuously review field-level information, opportunities, and lessons learned, and advise the Programme Manager to ensure result-oriented outcomes.

  • Ensure proper documentation of all activities in both electronic and hard-copy formats.

  • Identify success stories and develop quality content for management and donor reporting.

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Programme Manager
