Responsibilities & Context:
∎ Read and ensure a full understanding of ACFs Gender Minimum Standards & Child Protection Policies, asking questions and/or for support when necessary;·
∎ Implement all work related activities with a gender, disability and child protection lens, taking into account the different needs, concerns and ideas of our staff and beneficiaries.
∎ Ensure the incorporation of gender equity principles in all policies and activities;·
∎ Encourage the participation of all genders in meeting and on committees;·
∎ Help build an inclusive office environment where people do not feel disadvantaged or judged according to their gender or limited due to manageable disability.
∎ Objective 1: Increase community capability to anticipate, respond and adapt to climate induced health impacts.
∎ Project Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for the project, aligning with the overall goal of strengthening local health systems to address climate-induced health challenges. Ensure that project activities contribute to community-led responses, health protocol development, and awareness campaigns.
∎ Resource Management: Oversee the allocation and utilization of resources for conducting a comprehensive risk analysis, capacity-building programs, and community-based activities. Manage budgets, logistics, and other resources efficiently to meet project objectives.
∎ Partnership and Collaboration: Build and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders, including Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), local health authorities, and disaster management committees. Facilitate collaboration with entities such as the Bangladesh Meteorological Department and Department of Disaster Management.
∎ Monitoring and Evaluation: Establish robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track the progress of anticipatory actions, community engagement, and health system strengthening. Implement feedback loops for continuous improvement and provide regular updates to senior management.
∎ Team Leadership and Capacity Building: Lead and motivate the project team including local partners, providing guidance on risk analysis, protocol implementation, anticipatory action and community engagement. Conduct training sessions for team members and supervisors filed level capacity building activity of early warning system, community led response and anticipatory action successfully completed and communities are equipped with the necessary skills to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
∎ Objective 2:Evidence based advocacy for scaling up the best practices of community led adaptation to health impacts of climate change.
∎ Best Practice Identification and Documentation: The Deputy Program Manager (DPM) will lead the identification and documentation of successful community-led adaptation practices addressing health impacts of climate change. This involves reviewing project outcomes, analyzing data, and compiling evidence of effective strategies.
∎ Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: The DPM will engage with key stakeholders, including community leaders, local health authorities, and relevant organizations. They will communicate the evidence-based findings, emphasizing the positive impact of community-led adaptation practices on health, and seek feedback for further refinement.
∎ Strategic Advocacy Planning: The DPM will develop a comprehensive advocacy plan based on the documented best practices. This includes strategizing on how to effectively convey the evidence to decision-makers, policymakers, and funding agencies. The plan should outline targeted campaigns, communication channels, and engagement activities to ensure the scaling up of successful community-led adaptation initiatives.
