Educational Requirements:

Job Context:
∎ Duration of contract : 1 year (with possibility of extension upon satisfactory performance)
∎ Age Limit: 36 years & above on 30-01-2020 but below 50 years
∎ Duty station: National Headquarters, Dhaka

Job Responsibilities:
∎ The overall responsibilities are to supervise the department in order to improve the quality, accountability, performance and impact of the BDRCS Programmes through ensuring the proper planning, reporting, monitoring and evaluation with a view to strengthen a sustainable departmental systems in coordination and collaboration with other Units/Departments/Programs/Projects.
∎ Administrative correspondence and coordinate all Programmes and Departments of BDRCS adjusting existing programmes/projects in line with BDRCS Strategic Development Plan
∎ Capacity development assessment and provide necessary feedback and support for relevant programme staff
∎ Development of skills of assigned persons in different departments in terms of M&E tools, process, system development and reporting and communication
∎ Developing communications plans, activities and materials that support the roll-out of external and internal communications initiatives, campaigns and key calendar events by identifying and producing high quality communications content (media pitches and support for interviews, social media, talking points, press releases, key messages, photos and raw video etc.) to support positive positioning for the response efforts of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), ICRC, IFRC and Movement partners;
∎ Building and maintaining good working relationships with BDRCS colleagues, ICRC, IFRC and partners national societies. Keep close coordination with ICRC, IFRC and BDRCS teams in Dhaka;
∎ Integrating and scaling-up digital technologies and social media into BDRCS communications and community engagement efforts, operations and programmes, to enhance organisational understanding of the strategic value of social media, fostering a "digital culture";
∎ Media scanning and monitoring;
∎ Collaborating to identify and address reputational issues;
∎ Contributing to capacity-building of BDRCS counterparts including colleagues in IFRC, ICRC and BDRCS and BDRCS' volunteers.
∎ Coordinating and updating public and internal messaging;
∎ Coordinating visits from partner national society communications teams and donors;
∎ Supporting the ICRC, IFRC team and Management as required;
∎ Review and finalize concept notes and project proposals prepared by the section
∎ Performing other relevant duties as required.

Additional Requirements:
∎ Age 36 to 50 years
∎ At least 7 years working experience in journalism and public relations or related activities
∎ Experience of managing and supporting staff
∎ Experience in a humanitarian, development or International Organization is preferred
∎ Experience managing social media, photography and videography
∎ Excellent communication skills; influencing skills
∎ Experience of working in communications in humanitarian emergencies, complex crisis or conflict situations
∎ Experience of community engagement programming
∎ Excellent writing and public presentation/media relations skills
∎ Experience in developing info graphics
∎ Good computer skills (Windows, Spreadsheets, Word processing), analytical skills
∎ Excellent verbal, writing and editing skills in English
∎ Highly organized, proactive and innovative approach to work
∎ Flexibility (e.g. working beyond office hour if needed)
∎ Adhere to the 7 fundamental principles of Red Cross and Red Crescent movement
∎ Act at all times in accordance with the Code of Conduct
∎ Able to work in a team and respects opinions of others
∎ Honest and high level of integrity
∎ Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
∎ Good stress management skills-ability to work under pressure
∎ Assist the organization on occasion, in times of national, international, local emergencies or major disasters
