Additional Requirements:
  • Minimum 2–4 years’ experience as a Bakery Chef / Pastry Chef

  • Experience in café, bakery chain, or central kitchen operations preferred

  • Strong knowledge of commercial baking techniques and production planning

  • Training or certification in bakery/pastry (advantage)

  • Ability to handle bulk production and multi-outlet supply

  • Flexible to work early shifts, weekends, and peak business periods



Responsibilities & Context:
  • Prepare and bake daily bakery items including breads, croissants, muffins, cakes, cookies, and desserts

  • Ensure product consistency across all Grassroots Café outlets

  • Support production for events, catering, and corporate orders (bulk production when required)

  • Develop and introduce new bakery items aligned with seasonal menus and brand identity

  • Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards

  • Monitor stock levels, manage raw materials, and coordinate with procurement team

  • Control wastage and ensure proper portioning to meet cost targets

  • Supervise junior bakery staff and provide on-the-job training

  • Ensure proper maintenance and usage of bakery equipment (oven, mixer, proofer, etc.)

  • Coordinate with outlet teams for timely delivery and replenishment of bakery items

  • Maintain daily production reports and inventory tracking

Safeguarding Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation

  • Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise in safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment

  • Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action

  • Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, and encourage others to do so
