  • Language: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bengali.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data entry, spreadsheets) and email correspondence.
  • Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive problem-solver, and comfortable interacting with both artisans and international business clients.

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Merchandiser to join our team in Tangail. This role is crucial in coordinating the flow of goods from our artisan communities to our global customers.

Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Merchandiser will serve as the primary link between the production/artisan team and the sales/logistics channels.

Sample and Product Development:

  • Coordinate with the design and artisan teams (karigor) in Tangail to develop, track, and approve new product samples (bamboo and textiles) according to buyer specifications.
  • Maintain detailed records of all material usage, specifications, and costs.

Order Management and Follow-Up:

  • Process confirmed purchase orders (POs) and issue internal work orders to production units.
  • Monitor the entire production schedule to ensure orders meet critical deadlines (Time and Action Plan adherence).
  • Proactively communicate potential delays or issues to the Merchandising Manager and sales team.

Quality Assurance (QC) Coordination:

  • Regularly visit production sites in Tangail to monitor quality and ensure adherence to ethical sourcing and material standards (e.g., bamboo seasoning, cotton quality).
  • Coordinate final inspections and ensure products meet the specific quality requirements of international buyers (including Chhaya Handcrafts).

Communication and Documentation:

  • Maintain professional and precise communication with international buyers and logistics partners.
  • Prepare and manage all merchandising documents, including costing sheets, order tracking reports, and shipping paperwork.
