Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in HR and Administration, with at least 5 years in a senior HR role within a manufacturing or food industries setup.

  • Proven experience managing the full spectrum of HR operations, including payroll, recruitment, employee relations, compliance, grievance handling, disciplinary management, and general administration.

  • Demonstrated experience in factory HR operations: labor management, shift planning, attendance discipline, OT governance, facility management, and welfare services.

  • Strong exposure to audits, certifications, regulatory inspections, and compliance with labor laws and factory standards.

  • Proven success in implementing HR policies, SOPs, organizational change initiatives, and operational excellence programs.

  • Experience working closely with senior leadership, production heads, and cross-functional teams to align HR execution with operational priorities.

  • Experience of liaising with government authorities, local administration, law enforcement, and external stakeholders (auditors, buyers, community representatives).

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop HR/Admin teams at scale.

Job Context:

A leading and rapidly growing food manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant General Manager – Human Resources to lead Human Resources, Industrial Relations (IR), Employee Relations (ER), Compliance, and employee welfare functions at its factory. This role requires a strategic HR leader with strong manufacturing experience to ensure workforce stability, legal compliance, operational excellence, and employee engagement while supporting continuous production and business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Lead the full spectrum of HR activities at the factory in alignment with corporate HR strategy.

  • Align workforce planning and HR strategies with food processing cycles, storage capacity, seasonal demand, and production forecasts to ensure optimal manpower utilization.

  • Drive a performance-driven culture through discipline management, attendance governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Act as a strategic partner to Senior Management, sharing on-ground insights and executing HR policies, changing initiatives, and organizational directives.

  • Build a strong internal culture by modeling ethical conduct, fairness, and accountability across the factory workforce.

Workforce Strategy & People Management

  • Guide and develop the factory HR & Admin team through coaching, delegation, and capability building.

  • Manage employee relations proactively, building trust and maintaining a stable industrial environment through fair, consistent, and timely decisions.

  • Strengthen engagement, recognition, and supervisor–employee relationships to reduce absenteeism and turnover.

  • Promote transparent communication and maintain cultural alignment with organizational values.

HR Operations & Employee Management

  • Oversee attendance, absenteeism, LTO (Late, Leave, On-time) analysis, and necessary corrective actions.

  • Conduct daily operational reviews and troubleshoot HR-related issues including misconduct investigations, grievances, and disciplinary proceedings.

  • Manage employee exit processes, release formalities, and exit interviews to capture insights and ensure smooth separations.

  • Lead employee engagement activities, recognition programs, welfare initiatives, and daily employee touchpoints.

  • Coordinate final settlements, separation documentation, daily/weekly labor payments, and ensure compliance with timelines.

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll, OT, wages, and related HR operations in close coordination with Corporate HR.

Recruitment s Manpower Planning

  • Collaborate with Head Office HR to ensure timely recruitment aligned with production requirements, workforce planning, and factory expansion initiatives.

  • Ensure workforce deployment is optimized to support machine utilization, shift structures, new lines, and operational forecasts.

  • Monitor skill-mix and worker ratios to support efficiency, quality, and cost targets.

Compliance, Audit s Legal Affairs

  • Ensure all factory legal licenses, certifications, and factory compliance requirements are up to date.

  • Ensure all statutory licenses, inspections, buyer compliances, certifications, and legal requirements for the factory remain up to date.

  • Lead compliance audits and factory walkthroughs, coordinating with Production, Utility, Accounts, QA, and other departments for accurate documentation and timely reporting.

  • Maintain effective liaison with government authorities, local administration, and law enforcement.

  • Strengthen ethical conduct and ensure disciplinary actions follow due process and legal standards.

Data, Reporting & HR Analytics

  • Use data-driven insights (attendance %, OT trends, manpower cost, productivity per worker, accident frequency, etc.) to guide HR decisions and plant leadership discussions.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly HR dashboards, reports, and presentations for management review.

  • Identify trends and recommend targeted improvement projects.
