Job Purpose

Lead and manage the Industrial Engineering Department as a strategic support function for Production, Quality, and planning to ensure optimal manufacturing efficiency in a Lingerie / Intimate Apparel production environment.

The role focuses on SMV optimization, productivity improvement, line balancing, method engineering, manpower optimization, and cost efficiency, ensuring sustainable operational performance and continuous improvement across the factory.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Costing & Pre-Production Analysis

  • Analyze CMT and productivity parameters for all new development styles based on garment sketches, tech packs, or samples, especially for bra, panty, and lingerie products.

  • Provide accurate SMV and CMT costing inputs to the Merchandising Department during the product development stage.

  • Conduct method feasibility and operation breakdown analysis to ensure realistic costing.

2. Post Order Optimization

  • Re-evaluate confirmed orders to identify improved sewing methods, machine requirements, and operation layouts.

  • Recommend cost reduction opportunities without compromising product quality.

  • Support production teams to maintain target CMT within negotiated margins.

3. Work Study & IE Management

  • Plan, organize, and control the Work Study / IE functions within the factory.

  • Allocate responsibilities to IE Officers and Work Study staff.

  • Monitor data entry accuracy, time study records, and operational data.

4. Production Efficiency & Line Engineering

  • Conduct line balancing and capacity analysis for lingerie production lines.

  • Develop efficient workstation layouts and operation sequences.

  • Monitor and improve line efficiency, operator efficiency, and bottleneck control.

5. Production Data Analysis

  • Analyze pre-production and post-production data to identify improvement opportunities.

  • Present analytical reports to Management and Production teams.

  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly productivity performance.

6. Productivity & Performance Monitoring

  • Compare budgeted productivity vs. actual production achievements.

  • Identify efficiency gaps and implement corrective improvement actions.

7. Team Development

  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and skill development for IE staff and subordinates.

  • Ensure team members are trained on modern IE tools, GSD systems, and productivity techniques.

8. Manpower Planning

  • Recommend manpower requirements based on product complexity and SMV.

  • Support production management in workforce optimization and deployment.

9. Method Engineering

  • Conduct method study and workplace engineering improvements to increase efficiency.

  • Implement best practices for lingerie sewing operations, including special machines used in intimate apparel.

10. Operational Improvement

  • Analyze reports from production, quality, maintenance, and planning departments to detect operational issues.

  • Recommend process improvements and workflow optimization.

11. Statistical & Analytical Evaluation

  • Apply statistical tools, time study methods, and IE calculations to determine:

    • Production standards

    • Operator capacity

    • Machine requirements

    • Line productivity targets

12. Cost Impact Analysis

  • Evaluate the impact of design changes on production cost and SMV.

  • Provide management with recommendations for cost control and process efficiency.

 

Authority

  • Recommend leave approval, recruitment, increment, promotion, and disciplinary actions for IE department personnel.

  • Provide operational recommendations related to production efficiency and manpower planning.

 

Supervision

Directly supervise:

  • IE Manager / Senior IE

  • IE Officers

  • Work Study Officers

  • Data Entry Operators (IE)

 

Reporting

Responsible for preparation and distribution of:

  • Daily Production Report

  • Individual Operator Efficiency Report

  • Line Efficiency Report

  • Lost Time Analysis Report

  • Style SMV & Costing Analysis

  • Incentive / Productivity Reports

  • Capacity Planning Reports
