Responsibilities & Context:

The Assistant Finance Officer will be engaged for 6 months, based in Bhasan Char, dedicated to localized financial operations for WASH, and LPG interventions. Unlike the Ukhiya officer, this role addresses the unique logistical challenges of remote island operations. The Assistant Finance Officer prepares vouchers, processes payments, and maintains records in the AX accounting system, ensuring proper documentation of bills and distribution related financial documents. The role supports budget tracking, advance management, and audit preparation, guaranteeing accountability in Bhasan Char where timely financial flows are critical to sustaining interventions. This position ensures OCHA funded activities in the island context remain financially sound and uninterrupted.

Disposition:

  • Experience of designing, keeping and working with accurate computerized data and manual records and books is essential.

  • Ability to guide project personnel & Ability to effectively deal with GO/ NGO/INGO and others agencies

  • Should be prepared mentally to do extensive field visit. Flexible & Patient

  • Ability to work on your own initiative as well as a part of a team

  • Sympathetic with aims & objectives of Islamic Relief

  • Empathy with & understanding of the basic teachings and values of Islam

Audit and Accounting:

  • To assist the Finance Officer/ FDMNs Finance Coordinator for the project close out or year-end closing of the related ledger of AX

  • Scanning of voucher for donners outside Bangladesh for audit purpose and ledger accounts reconciliation for year audit.

  • Assist in completion of audit for the project.

General Skill:

  • Good in English written and spoken

  • Self-management including ability to priorities own work load and work independently and communication to meet deadline.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work as part of multi-disciplined, multicultural team.

  • Willing to work in the most remote area.

  • Must be willing to travel to project sites frequently.

  • Maintain confidentiality in all area of work.
