Job Context:

∎ Reports to: Production Manager
∎ Coordinates with: Project Manager, Production editors, Accountant, IT Assistant, etc.
∎ Direct line manager of: Not applicable
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Read given material and research NGO-specific terminology.
∎ Convert text and audio recordings from one language to one or more others (Rohingya, Chittagonian, Bengali or English).
∎ Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone.
∎ Prepare subtitles for videos and online presentations.
∎ Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation.
∎ Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy.
∎ Follow up with internal team members to ensure translation meets their needs.
∎ Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure).
∎ Network with field experts to stay current on new translation tools and practices.
∎ Participate in translating survey information and other information from English into Rohingya, Chittagonian or Bangla.
∎ Asses and consult other partners to ensure security situation of planned locations is calms; Ensure risk assessment and share security information.
∎ Responsible to put in place appropriate security and prevention measured during any distribution and/or implementation of project activities.
∎ Provide timely incident report to the line manager as needed.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 3 years of experience in any I/NGOs.
∎ Additional certification in Linguistics is a plus.
∎ Proven work experience as a translator, Interpreter or similar role.
∎ Good knowledge of security management in Cox's bazar Rohingya camps and host community context.
∎ Keep strong coordination with other implementing agencies, donors and local governmental authorities at field level.
∎ Excellent computer skills.
∎ Good knowledge of content editing tools.
∎ Familiarity with translation software.
∎ High level language fluency in reading and writing in Rohingya, Chittagonian, Bangla and English.
∎ Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors.
∎ Willingness to accept frequent field missions.
∎ Ability to establish collaborative relationships with staff, beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
∎ Strong attitude to take initiative, work autonomously and achieve results effectively.
∎ Flexibility and Stress-management.

Salary: Tk. 68900 (Monthly)
